Hi All,

Need some help. I've been an ICU nurse for 4 years, interested in going to medical school. I'm an ORM.

I've got two degrees, BA in Chemistry and a BS in Nursing.

MCAT of 508, cGPA of 3.3, sGPA 3.3.

Before becoming a nurse, I taught high school for 3 years (Teach for America).

I am very active in my community and volunteer a ton (250+ hrs a year) through a couple different organizations in my city.

My letters will be good, including three from attendings at my current place of work.

Minor research experience, one poster, no pubs.

I guess my question is do I have a shot at lower tier MD schools? I'm looking at Drexel, NYMC, Chicago medical school. Any other schools I should add that I could get in to?

Invest in MSAR Online and target schools for whom a 3.3 matriculant GPAs is above the 10th %ile. Pay very careful attention to the IS/OOS accept ratios

I suggest all these schools with your stats:
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
Penn State
Commonwealth-Geisinger
Vermont
Quinnipiac
Albany
New York Medical College
Seton Hall
George Washington
Georgetown
West Virginia
Eastern Virginia
NOVA MD
Oakland Beaumont
Medical College Wisconsin
Loyola
Rosalind Franklin
Creighton
California University (new school)
Kaiser (when it opens)
Also apply to at least 6 DO schools and include PCOM and LECOM.
