Hi! So I've been fortunate to finally have received some MD acceptances within the past couple of months and now I'm facing the difficult decision of which school to attend. I'm initially from NJ, but I have NO location preferences, as I've done my undergraduate and graduate schooling in both the east coast and midwest. I'm moreso looking for advice as to which program would afford me the most opportunities. Here's the 4 schools:

Rosalind Franklin Chicago Medical School
Wright State Boonshoft School of Medicine
Meharry Medical College
Morehouse School of Medicine

I had the best interview day at Wright State - absolutely loved the curriculum, facilities, students, and environment. Could definitely see myself there. RFU, I really like their facilities, but to be honest, I didn't really pay attention during interview (interviews were early, and I kind of nodded off afterwards), but from what I read online, people have mixed reviews about the school despite their quality match list. Meharry and Morehouse essentially gave me the same feel as they have similar missions, although I def enjoyed my Morehouse day more than my Meharry interview. Ultimately, I'm just happy to have choices, and would be relatively happy at any of these schools, but I also want to choose a school with the best outcome for me. I'm think about going into OBGYN or IM/Peds, so nothing crazy competitive. Any help would be awesome! I;m moreso interested in any major pros/cons of attending any of these schools (especially RFU since they tend to get a lot of crap on SDN). Thank you!

As a current student at rfu, I'll say that we get a great clinical education rotating in a wide variety of hospitals and clinics, including county, VA, and private. The pre-clinical years are miserable, but for me, I would have been miserable during pre-clinical years at any school.

That all being said, our match list and the specific high quality matches we got are reflections of the hard work of individual students at our school, as they are at any institution. Our school does well in the Chicago area, and students who excel on boards and clerkships aren't limited.

I also was accepted at meharry, and I chose Rfums because of location and cost. Both schools, I would say, are of approximately equal caliber.

I don't know much about the schools themselves, but given that you don't seem to have a financial or location preference, and your only glowing opinion was about Wright State, it seems like that would be a great fit for you. I think with this school list, the best outcome for you is going to happen where you're going to be happiest, as it will be easier for you to achieve your potential when you feel comfortable.

Narrow your list down to two schools, then go to their second look weekends. Then look around at all the other students there and figure out whether these are people who you could see yourself being friends with and working with for the next 4+ years.

You seem to have liked all of the to some extent, so what are the differences between the costs of attendance at each?

I haven't received finaid packages yet, but so far RFU may be the most expensive, but only by 5k so I'm not sure if it sways too much

Go with your gut, which should be where you think you would be happiest. If most of the medical students seemed happy at a school when you interviewed then you will most likely be happy there too. If most seemed miserable then you are likely to be miserable also.
