I am in the beginning of my grade 12 year right now and have researched which universities to attend.
I am Canadian, so if I attend university here, I either have to complete 3 years of an undergraduate or a full undergraduate just to apply to dental school. I tried finding universities that allow you to apply straight from high school and are accepted in Canada. I was able to find 4, all in Australia.

I can see that James Cook University has a 5 year program that offers a Bachelor or Dental Surgery (BDS-which is equivalent to DMD and DDS based off research) which would allow me to come back to Canada and practice. But applying to just one school is obviously very risky as it is very competitive.

However, when I look at other Universities, these are the degrees that are offered, and I wasn't able to find much information on them:
Charles Sturt University - Bachelor of Dental Science
University of Queensland - Bachelor of Dental Science (honours)
Griffith University - Bachelor of Dental Health Science & Master of Dentistry

So I just want to make sure that they would be equivalent to having a DMD or DDS, allowing me to practice in Canada upon completion. My goal after coming back to Canada would be to become an orthodontist, which I believe you need the DMD or DDS for as well.

According to an old thread (I can't post the link because I haven't been using this site long enough), because it is accepted in Australia as the same degree, it would be in Canada too?

If you guys know any other universities accepted in Canada, post it below!

Also, what would you guys consider a competitive average coming out of high school? I currently attend a private school and take 2 AP classes.

Thanks in advance for any pointers and feedback!!
