Hello everyone,

Under application procedure tab, UDM requires 2 letters of recommendation from science faculty and they strongly RECOMMEND that the letters are written by faculty within non plant or non environmental disciplines of Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
However, under FAQs tab, it says that two letters from science faculty within prerequisite courses (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) are required.

Which one is right?

It means they want biology, chemistry or physics recommendations but not ones from plant/enviro bio.

So basically avoid gettig a plant biology professor or an environmental studies professor even if the courses were taken in the biology dept.

Thank you for your reply. So do I have to get LOR from biology, chemistry or physics faculty? I thought it was ok to get LOR from any science department because their website says that.

i got a recommendation letter from a plant biology prof and i also got an interview.

They tell you what they PREFER not what's REQUIRED. If it was me, my main priority would be to find someone that can write best letter possible. But I would suggest that at least 1 letter comes from a professor that taught you one of the science pre. Reqs.

Good Luck!

I got an interview from UDM and I also had a letter from a botanist but she researchers Sarracenia so at least they eat

I don't think its a huge deal. I would go with who ever you think will write the best letter.

good luck
