Hi guys,

I have a classic question about selecting schools.
I kind of sorted out but need some help.

I am a CA resident. (green card)
My GPA is low about 3.1 on both.
DAT is 20 with 17 of RC.

I selected these schools.

Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health
UCSF
LECOM-FL
Creighton University school of Dentistry
Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine
The Maurice, Temple University
Medical University of South Carolina (MSC)
Roseman University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine (USN)
Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry (VCU)
Western University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine
USC
Loma Linda
UCLA
UoP
University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine (UNLV)
New York University (NYU)

I know I am not that competitive, so any advices to romove or to add for any better chances?

And one more question is that most schools request 3-4 semester hour of BioChem, but I have only 4 unit of quarter BioChem. So is this not qualified?

Thank you in advance!!

what is your science GPA? I guess I could see why you are applying to UOP and UCSF as a cali resident, but I feel like those schools may be out of reach

what is your PAT? And undergrad school? I think you might be wasting money on UCLA as well...

take out south carolina you're prob not getting in OOS.

I was rejected from UoP and they said it was largely because of my DAT when I spoke to them. They said they have a hard minimum requirement of 18 on every section. I had a
22AA but a bio subscore of 17.

If your looking to save some time/money, maybe take out UNLV.

Seems to be odd being that asdfray got in there with a QR 17

I don't think he did. I'm not sure he even applied there, actually. And you can hardly compare a 17RC with a 17QR.

Anyway, exceptions can be made to every 'cut-off' you see. Schools do what they want. But never walk in thinking you'll be the exception to anything (pre-reqs, gpas, scores, shadowing etc.). UoP is a known DAT school. Just know you're taking a gamble rolling in with 17s.

Take out South Carolina, their required avg GPA is 3.6, and even if you got accepted as OOS it's extremely expensive (120 K) a year, (90 K) a year if you were in-State.
