hi friends,
does anyone know about advanced standing program at University of Illinois at chicago? the difficulty in acceptance, quality and ...

As far as UIC for acceptance you need the following for sure:

1. Good Part I score - prefrebly >87.
2. TOEFL of atleast >97
3. Decent GPA
4. Good recommendation letters
5. A green card, US Citizen or Asylee status (100% requirement)
6. Excellent SOP - Show them why you are interested in UIC and chi-town
7. Dental experience - i.e. dental assistant, observeship, DH lic, etc
8. Finally being a RE-applicant helps - shows interest in the program

Some Pros of the program

1. Great Patient pool and excellent faculty
2. Very nice staff and they deliver on their promises.
3. Excellent clinical experience - 2-year program
4. the dental program is IDDP - 24 student - new pre-clinic labs
5. they accepted me 🙂

Some Cons of the program
1. $$$$ Expensive - about $82,000 per year in fees only!!
2. Higher cost of living in downtown chicago.
3. Cold weather ( but i like snow 🙂)
4. Very competative program - not easy to get into.

Good luck

hi..
i too have step 1 score 87....
gpa-2.5 my college in india..is a govt college..and they are stingy with marks..
toefl ibt is 107...
i have 5 and half years experience in clinical practice in india...
my husband is all set in chicago..so uic would be the first and probably the only choice...wish my score was a little higher than 87...but from the new conversion scale, i presumed its a little tuf to get 90...u need really good individual scores in each subject to get a 90....
anyone else applying to uic this year..they hav begun accepting applications...from 1st march onwards..

For new applicants

Uic is now ONLY accepting ECE as the EVAL. Last year they took ECE or WES. Keep in mind about getting all your scores in a sealed envelope sent you, then send it to UIC as one packet. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Good Luck

Yes I' m applying right away. The NDBE 2 is not a requirement. I have my ECE from last year 2.92..Ialready applyied to BU, NYU and Buffalo , but not good news from them yet. I realized that the sooner you apply the better ..That 's why i want to apply now..I will take the second part if I don't get accepted to the other school that applied last year because I would like to apply to New jersey too, and they require the second part.

bye and good luck

Docsmiley

it is not step 2, it is part II (NDBE part II). Step 2 is for medical students.
to answer, for UIC part II is recommended.

good luck

thanx, dentalbug...i guess part 2 wud be gud ..is 87 a decent score to get at uic?if i had a 90+, i wud not giv part 2....but 90 in new format is not so easy....what do you suggest...apply wit only part 1 or both parts?

docsmiley

Apply with part I, then send your score in of part II, as soon as you get it. Early application is recommended.
