Hey guys...
I have an interview on the 14th this month. I think I am pretty much ready for it. But the last time when I interviewed, I wrote down few questions about the school to ask so that I wouldn't have to say I don't have any questions if asked. Now for nycom interview, I can't really think of any questions. I know it kind of sounds stupid... One of the reasons is that I read their website and sdn and now I seem to know pretty much everthing.

Please give me any ideas about what should I ask them.

Only two questions that I can think of right now is about clerkship and mentor prog. Thats about it.

Just ask them a question about any of their programs that you are interested in and you want to know more about. Or match rates, board scores, what they are doing for board prep, etc.

Oh, and I heard they have a great voodoo clerkship program, be sure to ask about that for me, will ya?

How do you compare the board scores? give me a general idea.

I asked my interviewer if he enjoys teaching at NYCOM and if the overall student body is happy to be at NYCOM.

i just turned down my acceptance to NYCOM. Its a great school, but i definitely need a scenery change. I think i would just explode if i had to drive to nassau in rush hour traffic every morning... that and i am doing Navy HPSP and i feel whatever clinical rotation advantage it has is nullified by the fact that i will most likely do my residency in a military hospital.

anyhoo. my NYCOM interview was a breeze. don't even worry about it too much. I am sure you are prepared. Just go in there with an upbeat attitude and let your personality shine through.

my interviewer probably asked me 2 medically related questions and the rest was about my extra-curriculars. i think we got into a whole conversation about mixed martial arts and grappling... it was weird and totally unexpected but the results speak for itself. The person who interviewed me was a young DO surgeon with a full head of hair.. hope u get him.

just own the moment and have fun!

Something like how have the last few years of board scores are matching up with the national average. Or How many people pass their boards the first time around, what kind of GME programs they are matching into.

Also, are there any special programs to be able to rotate out of state, or even doing 3rd and 4th year rotations overseas somewhere? I let my interviewers know that I was looking for the school that fit me and in a location that was ideal for me and that I could see living in after residency.

I asked about the increased scut work faced by many on their rotations in new york city areas.

And what was their response? ... Forgehdaboutit?
My interview was in november so I apologize if I don't remember what he told me word for word.
What I got out of it was, he agreed that this has been a problem faced by all medical schools who have their hospitals in new york city areas or any other cities- this is not something unique to nycom. He said if I decide to come to nycom, I have a choice of where I am going to rotate, - there are many hospitals to choose from- so it won't be a problem.
If I want less scut work, I can choose a hospital that doesn't have as much of a patient load as lets say a hospital in NYC will have.
