Need MHA advice

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
What is your major? GPA? Experience (including the volunteering you mentioned)? What do you want to do with the MHA?

I think most schools look at your current GPA, because that is what you provide them at the time of application. But they may want your updated transcript, at least by the time of your provisional acceptance to the program.

GRE score - From what I've seen, MHA programs don't require an astronomical score. But aim for as high as you can get, of course.

Hopefully I can answer some of your questions.

First, congratulations on almost being done with your undergrad. As for your questions, you should aim to take the GRE during the fall. I would suggest September so you could get your applications out during that same month. Most application deadlines are not until the Spring; however you want to get in there as soon as possible. Score wise it varies, but an 1000 or over will certainly get you admitted into various programs. For highly selective programs you should aim for a 1200. The schools will look at your GPA through the end of your Junior year (unless you are taking summer courses). If they have an issue with it then they will accept updated GPA for your first semester Senior year. If you are admitted then they will just want a final transcript. As for applying, aim for having everything done by September 30th. By getting your application out earlier you not only will hear back earlier but also increase your admissions chances.

Work experience can be important depending on the school. If you can find work in a healthcare organization even as a volunteer, it could certainly help. However lack of experience might not hurt you depending on the program. Hope this helps. PM if you need anything.

@studenthealth12

Score-wise, the GRE has been revised this past year.

Thank you so much for your help! Do you think schools will allow me to send my GPA after my fall semester during senior year?

Also, how would you recommend preparing for the GRE?

Yes, schools will allow this as long as you have not been admitted or denied yet. You might want to call some schools just to let them know of your intention to do that. As for GRE prep, your best bet is following a study schedule and purchasing some review materials. I am sure there are many resources for that. Good luck though!
