Just got rejected to my state school so Im looking for more schools that I may apply to that accepts MD LORs. Any suggestions would be helpful! Also, am I "late" in the cycle if I add more now?

You aren't late for this cycle yet, but I would recommend applying broadly. What are your stats? If they're strong you can still apply to the more competitive programs like Touro-NY, NSU, CCOM, and KCU-MB. Some schools are fine with MD letters, but I would also recommend shadowing with a DO so you get a better understanding of osteopathy; plus it looks better for adcoms to have a DO LOR and shows that you are really motivated to learn about the profession.

I unfortunately, cannot add more LOR to my evaluation tab as I filled all 6. My DO letter writer backed out at the end so that letter is just occupying empty space on the AACOMAS page. My stats are 3.6/511 MCAT.

Your stats are definitely competitive then. I'd say go ahead and apply to the competitive programs then, but add a few other ones like LECOM and CUSOM. I'd also talk with the admissions officers about sending an LOR directly to them if you can. Out of curiosity, how come your DO backed off from writing the letter?

Those stats are fine to apply DO right now. Just apply broadly if you have the funds and you'll be fine! Remember though, at this point you're looking at interviews in Jan/Feb more than likely. Good luck!

She was a professor who taught a class. We were on good terms, but Im assuming she was either busy or she didn't feel that she would write a compelling letter. I asked her in person and she said yes at the time, but she never followed up with the letter 🙁.

I'm pretty sure most of my letter writers are decent as I have a couple MD invites, but my concern is that I can only use my MD LOR rather the DO one due to the circumstance above.

Also, what schools are these? NSU, CCOM, and KCU-MB I dont know my acronyms that well for DO schools yet.

Nova Southeastern University- NSU, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine-CCOM, Kansas City University- College of Medicine and Biosciences-KCU-MB

Good luck!

How many schools should I be applying to given the timeline of the cycle? Right now I have Michigan state, Rocky vista (rejected) CCOM and NSU.

Broadly is best. I'd try to get secondaries in before thanksgiving. With your stats, I'd add:

AZCOM
PNWU's - some regional bias
KCU
KCOM
DMU
NYCOM

Ok thanks! How much will it hurt me for those schools that strongly suggest a DO LOR over a MD LOR? Im looking at AZCOM specifically.

I got accepted without a DO letter. Don't fret too much about it. Just apply now and very broadly.

If you're looking at AZCOM you should be fine. They love high Mcats (508+). Combined with the 3.6, I would expect at least an interview invite

Where are you from OP?

It's totally fine to apply with MD letters. But the last time I checked, MSU requires a DO letter.

You should apply to RVU-COM. Don't you live close to that?

Yeah but I got rejected by them as per the first post on this thread I started.
