Need some advice on the smartest path forward

After the change in GPA policy my cumulative went from a 3.36 to a 3.3 and my science went from a 3.49 to a 3.17. I am wondering if I should apply to post-bacc programs such as lecom, vcom, azcom. I was not a science major so the only upper levels I have taken are cell molec and biochem. I feel like a post bacc would be of use in gaining exposure to more sciences. Another option is that I could take upper levels on my own. I cannot afford to take courses at a university (4k a class). The local community college offers a 200 level microbio and a 300 level virology course (though microbio is a pre-req and I don't know if I can get a waiver to bypass the pre-req). I am also currently preparing for a June MCAT.

Any advice on the best way to move forward would be greatly appreciated.

It may be cheaper to do a post bac yourself compared to doing a formal post bac, if you are concerned about money. If you are going to do a post bac, it should focus on upper division science classes and you need to do well in them (gpa of 3.5 or above) to prove to adcoms you can handle a medical school curriculum.

Your science gpa is a bit lower than the average science gpa for a DO matriculant, but no one knows what is going to happen with average gpas at DO schools next cycle.

It seems that the score you get on the mcat could make or break your application if the rest of your application is solid (good clinical hours, good volunteering hours, shadowing a doctor, a letter of recommendation from a DO).

If you get a good score on the mcat (505+), I would apply early and broadly to DO schools next cycle. This is my advice but I am no adcom. This is a good question for @Goro
