Hi all

So Im not sure if Im in a bad spot or not.

Two of the schools I applied to have their supplementary info listed on their site as "send in at the same time as AADSAS".

I submitted my app on the 30. It was EXTREMELY hard to come up with that money. This made obtaining money for secondaries very difficult.

So for one school, I sent it around July 2, but there was insufficient postage, so I had to resend it yesterday. The school emailed me and said something along the lines of "Since you have not yet done this, your application for admission to our 2016 entering class cannot be presented to our Admissions Committee for their recommendation". They then said that I should submit everything (fee and forms), which I did.
-Are they still going to consider me?? :/

And for another school Im sending it tomorrow because my mother (who is a single parent) just got paid, and we now have the money available to send in.

I know I'm late on this but I really couldnt help it. My family struggles financially and these costs are putting a real toll on us (I feel sooo bad because of it).

I really really hope these schools will still consider me. I've tried my best to get everything in, but with my mother being a single parent, it is very very hard.

What do you guys think? Opinions?

Thanks in advance everyone.

I feel for you, I really do. I am in a similar situation and have been largely self-sufficient for about three years now. Unfortunately, dental schools don't offer much in the way of need-based assistance from what I understand. Dental school is going to be expensive; that is a reality we both need to accept and work with. Are you planning on taking out the maximum amount of loans? How do you intend to pay for school if you are having these difficulties now? Sorry to be blunt, but it seems like postage and admissions fees are the least of your worries. Do you qualify for the FAP program?

I can't imagine they would just throw away your application because you haven't submitted a secondary YET. If it gives you peace of mind, maybe call the school tomorrow and explain that your materials are en route

Yes, they will consider you, but most schools review applications by batch, so they are just informing you that you won't be considered with the batch that your AADSAS app was sent in. Likely, your app will be reviewed with the next batch!

Yeah I know..it will be an expensive route. I have loans, and plan to take out as much needed. My family is willing to make whatever sacrifices needed to help me reach my goal, it's just that stuff like this with "money up front" is an issue sometimes

I mean, it wouldnt be considered anyhow right, since my DAT isnt until this Tuesday, LOR's are on the way, and gpa isnt calculated yet right?

True, although schools don't wait on LORs to begin reviewing, but they do need the GPA verification and DAT. It's probably a bulk message they sent to everyone who has e-submitted but from whom they don't have the supplemental fee, like a more stern version of the emails most schools send to prompt you to pay.

I see I see. Thanks for that. For the other school, if I send it in tomorrow, and give the school a call, do you think they would understand my situation?

focus on DAT, this is not the time to worry about your application.

When you submitted your app, did you apply for FAP beforehand?

Unfortunately not; I was under the impression that the fAP could be done after submission, from what my school told me, which was incorrect.
I am sorry to hear that. Check with your schools if they allow a waiver for their secondary application fees. Wouldn't hurt.

Good idea, thank you for that, I will give it a try!
