So I recently switched from pre-dental to pre-pod and I'm curious what you guys think my best course of action would be. Right now I only have about 7 hours shadowing a podiatrist, and I plan on shadowing some more in a wound care center and hospital in the next 3-4 weeks. My question is should I e submit my app now and state that I plan on doing this shadowing or should I e submit in 3 weeks after I do it? Is it better to submit it earlier or would it not make much of a difference? I have a 3.31cgpa, 3.16sgpa, and a 19 on the DAT. Thanks

Submit it right now. Shadowing won't matter until later (as in when you interview). Apply now, shadow in the next few weeks, interview late Feb or March.

go ahead and submit now, just keep in mind that you are limited in the schools you can apply to with the DAT instead of the MCAT

Thanks for the advice. I submitted today. How long does the process usually take after my gpa is verified (ie: time until schools contact me, offer me interview, and then accept/reject me)?

It all depends on the amount of applications that they have to process before yours. I submitted my AACPMAS on a Monday. My application was listed as complete ( after they received my transcriptis) on that Wednesday. Five days later ( not five weeks) my application was verified and sent to my designated schools. I started hearing from schools within two days.

My AACPMAS was submitted in the middle of January to give you a reference of how recent this was. Best of luck.

Temple asked me about my limited shadowing experience and if i'm making the right decision. So be prepared for that Q.

I only have ~50 hrs of shadowing. (Although Im watching a few surgeries next week.)

Yeah, I'm expecting that and "Why are you applying with the DAT" to be in the first few questions. I addressed these things in my personal statement, but I'm sure ill have to do it again.
