Hi all. My question is relatively simple. During 2nd year I used FA/Pathoma+some uworld as part of my daily studies (in addition to Robbins, etc) and I used the same stuff for step 1 studying (sans Robbins, etc). This served me super well as I was familiar with all the stuff for when it became time for step 1, as far as resources go.

I want to do the same thing for step 2 - I have a feeling it is not going to be as simple. I have looked at Kaplan high yield as kind of a corner stone I can use throughout the year, but am not sure if I should do that or just use individual books for each rotation or just something like MTB in addition to my regular studies.

Perhaps I don't really understand step 2, but it doesn't seem nearly as clear cut as it was for step 1 as far as determining good "default resources" if you will.

Thank you!

You will have a lot less time on your hands than during ms1/2. Just focus on experiencing 3rd year, use uWorld, and use individual resources to prepare for the shelves (case files, blueprints, Lange, etc.)

This will: 1. Make you look good on rounds to get good reviews, 2. Get you good grades on shelves so you don't stress, 3. Come study time things will come back a lot easier once you go over a full review

You will find that step 2 review courses dont go into enough detail for the rotations and shelf exams.

Just like how FA and uworld would not be enough for first 2 yrs of med school

Study hard for shelf exams. I liked case files and thought it was spot on for most rotations especially when supplemented with uworld. I had medicine last rotation of the year so I went through MTB and redid all of unworld and scored a 256 on NBME form 4 2 days before ck, but have not gotten back my scores yet. In The end it's just like 1st and 2nd year, if you study hard and do well on your shelf exams, you should also score well on ck as long a you have a thorough review before the exam
