I've just decided to go with dental school and I would like to apply for 2011 and got some questions about it.

1) I haven't taken DAT yet but will take it late July or early August. Is it too late? I heard that the earlier I apply the better chance I get and the AADSAS for 2011 is open today. I may complete my application by mid-August. Would that be too late? Also how soon should I apply for DAT if I want to take it late July?

2) About LORs one of the four LORs written by my class instructor who is not a professor. Would that be a problem? And I do not understand how LORs can be submitted along with application. Would I figure out once the application is open?

3) When calculating science GPA, should I include calculus? What about psychology and statistics?

4) I took some classes during my high school year as dual enrollment at other college and have done study abroad over summer. Do I need to send the transcripts to AADSAS?

5) I will start shadowing but I am not sure how I can show how many hours of shadowing I did. Do I just write it in application? Or is there any way that I can get the hours approved?

6) When I apply for the DAT, I get to pick 5 schools to send the score to. I know I can change schools after taking the test but I was wondering how people usually do. They pick their school first and then take the test? Because I think the schools I should send my score can change depending on the DAT score. How do people normally do?

I will have more questions as I do more research but so far if anyone can answer those questions, it will be appreciated.

for calculus I, II, & III, differential equation --> other science
psychology --> non science
statistics ---> other science (for me, I took Biomedical Engineering statistics)

What do you mean other science? Does that mean I include them in science GPA or not? By the way I took an introduction to engineering course. Should I include that too if other science counts toward science GPA?

just start working on your application. you will know what i mean (there is a category under which you can indicate if class is bio, chem, physics, other science, non science, etc...)

you don't calculate your gpa. you just enter all the course information.

once you send your transcript with transcript matching form, they will calculate the gpa/science gpa for you.

if you have question about something, contact aadsas.

oh, there are instructions for each section, if you have any questions.

if you have good gpa and good dat score, applying in August won't be a problem.

I just finished adding all the courses that I have taken and in the process one of my questions was asnwered and one more question came up additionally. What caterogy are biochemistry/immunology/physiology/anatomy?

And is there anyone who can help me with other questions? I have some sort of idea but I would like to confirm that..

immunology/physiology/anatomy - if you click the "instructions for this section" at the top right and look through it. It tells you. They are biology.

Biochemistry could be biology of chemistry depending on which department gave it.

Once you start shadowing your questions might be moot. It is not clear what you mean by your instructor is not a professor. Without dat scores you may be jumping the gun. Why not do your research first?
