Ok..here it is. Sent in aadsas oct. 22nd. Barring a horrible interview I am expecting to get accepted to NYU and/or BU. Only problem is that I probably won't know for sure until March/April or whenever it is they will get around to interviewing me and sending out the letter.
So how is everyone preparing their financing? I am worried that if I start the loan process after I get accepted..say in April or even May that it won't give me enough time to secure the money for the schools..and I will lose my spot. Initial deposits are no problem but does anyone know how long it generally takes to secure financing and how fast NYU or BU expects to get paid in full?
-I am a Canadian citizen but fortunately I have wealthy American citizen co-signers willing to help me out.
* To fellow Canadians..I have heard nothing but bad things regarding CANHELP i.e. disorganized, incompetent etc..and as I understand it that is the only option for Canadians who need to borrow the full amount (~65K) who don't have a U.S co-signer.

Most schools I interviewed at told us to start the financial aid process on Jan. 1, regardless of whether or not we were accepted to their school. Apparently, you can list the schools you MAY be attending. This ensures that your paperwork is sent to the schools. So, when you hear in Mar/Apr, everything will be in place, and the school will verify that you are accepted. Then, it's just a matter of waiting until school starts to receive the funds.

Exactly. Just fill out the FAFSA online and list the schools you've applied to. That opens the door for them to request funding for you should you matriculate. If you don't, then no harm done!

Can I still fill out FAFSA eventhough I'm Canadian?
