I don't believe I've ever said that.
Very sorry to hear of your loss.I took my MCAT in July and worked many hours until school started. Approximately 2 weeks after start of term, a good friend of mine got struck and killed by a car. Finals week is next week and because of everything that has happened over the past several months (taking the MCAT, working many hours, studying constantly, dealing with my friends death), I think it would be best to quit my current research position, which I've only had for 3 months. I really liked this research, but I think I need to have a lighter schedule next quarter to heal. I have a year of research in another lab. I'm just worried that quitting will come off as an inability to handle high pressure and stress. I'm applying in June.
You have more than enough research experience as you are, for general med school application purposes, even if you never return to a research lab.
