Hello everyone,
I have come across a dilemma that is preventing me from taking organic chemistry in the summer semester as I cannot find a 5 credit class that will work. I am however retaking a few more classes to raise my GPA. What I am curious about is will it be worth it to retake organic I in the fall semester as my grades will not be out until December to count into my GPA. I have predicted my grades for my last semester before I graduate and if I ace my retake and get an A in another upper level class this summer my cGPA will be 3.45 and my sGPA will be 3.27. My MCAT is a 27 and I have over 3000+ clinical experience, 80 shadowing a DO with a letter from a DO. I also have 200+ volunteer and will continue my volunteering and clinical work during the course of the year. With the retake my cGPA will be 3.5 and my sGPA will be a 3.37 but schools will not get that until Dec and I am planning on having my app submitted in the beginning of June. Also am looking on slight advice as to schools to apply. The ones I have been thinking are RVU, KCOM, AZCOM, ATSU-SOMA, NSU, PNWU, VCOM-CC and V, Western-Lebanon and KYCOM

Did you do well in Orgo II? If so, I wouldn't worry about it.

Also, I don't think your fall grades will make a significant difference. What would you do if you didn't take Orgo I? If it were up to me, I wouldn't bother repeating a course if I passed it the first time around and instead use that time to diversify myself or improve my application in other ways.

Yes I received a B in Orgo II so I improved from a C to a B. I will not be taking any classes in the fall if I don't take orgo I. I will be working full time as a CNA where I would get to work in 3 different hospitals and will be available for any unit. It will be a great learning experience.

your competitive at all the DO's and one C shouldn't kill you, especially in an understandably difficult subject like Ochem. If you're not worried about the cost, can fit the one course into your work schedule, and wanna be safe, I'd say go for it. If it were me, I'd see if a community college near me was offering it and spend the money to boost my chances, but if I'd have to do a major university course, I'd be worried I couldn't devote the time to do well. Up to you though, your app looks pretty good already though.
