I graduated from a UC with a biology degree in 2009.
I had horrible GPA: 2.7 + I can't seem to get a letter or rec either.

So I am having trouble applying to Post bachs and masters.

Is there any other way? Any post bachs or masters that do not require a recommendation from a professor?

I can get one from a dentist I worked for, or a professor from a different school that I know personally.

Any advice?

informal post bacc is your best option. Just apply to any local 4-year university and start taking undergrad level courses. This = informal post-bacc

In the new classes you'll be taking, you will need to 4.0 all of them, its the fastest way to get your GPA up. Meanwhile, you can get new LORs from the new professors. In my post-bacc, I used to always go to my professors office hours and pretend to have a "question" about the material, but the truth was, I just wanted to go there every week so they know of me/about me.

Do you have DAT scores? If so, Mississippi College. A Lot of UC students here.

You could even just do an Open University program at a Cal State (what I did). No application necessary. I know UCI limits the # of classes you take per quarter if you are not in an undergrad or grad program so going to a Cal State is probably your best option. Go to a Cal State and take 4 upper-div bio courses a semester for a year, knock out a 4.0, and getting a letter of Rec won't be a problem. While I agree with dentalworks that going into office hours helps, if you are consistently among the top few students on all the exams and participate in class (w/out being that over-zealous person that everyone rolls their eyes at), the professor will be more than willing to write a LOR for you. Also, if you are around a few Cal States, I'd suggest seeing if the one you decide to go to has a pre-health professions advising office (CSUFullerton does).

dentalworks is right, you have pretty good posts 🙂. I have many friends who did informal Postbacs and Formal. As long as you get a 4.0 or near it (while retaking classes you got a C- or lower in...AND take science classes that you have not taken to show Adcoms that you didnt just get an A because your retaking the class.) youll be good. At least a year of classes at your local state college should do it. Good Luck!!!
