For some reason I thought most schools started in Sept., but I was just looking up some of the schools I was accepted/interviewed at and most start in Aug. One specifically starts with orientation in the first week of August!

I'm so excited/nervous/every other emotion right now. I don't know why it just hit me like that, August is still 6 1/2 months away and I really can't wait for med school to start.

😕 🙂 😱

haha...

its still a long ways away. ive always been at a semester system so the school starting in august seemed normal to me. but im sure the "no free time after your first year of med school" thing will turn this nervous energy into just plain exhaustion. 😉

Personally I'm dreading the first few weeks. I actually think the start date may influence which school I choose! JK

I think the next 6 months are going to zoom by before we know it.

I know, I can't believe it's already almost the end of Jan!! Time is going to fly.

Personally I'm dreading the first few weeks.

Doctor Kevin-WHY!?

considering my my current grad program is officially over July 30th, that gives me about two weeks of 'freedom' before med school starts. what a depressing way to start the rest of my life.

I must admit, I am pretty excited to begin a new chapter of my life in med-school, but what does that bring with it?

Answer: the closing of another chapter, in my case, an awesome undergrad career full of crazy memories, hard work/harder partying, and great connections made. I'm gonna miss the life of a college student.......mmmmmmm, beer

I sometimes find myself feeling the mild symptoms of a 'peter pan' syndrome....its both exciting, but its also kind of weird to start dramatically moving toward a new path of 'growing up'.

Nontheless, I am truly excited about this next venture, and I wish everyone luck in their own paths
:horns:

yeah totally - peter pan syndrome for sure....

I'm so bored right now I'm about to climb the highest building here and jump off it. No offense to those of you whose loved ones have jumped off buildings.

Actually, it may be something to base your decision on, however, you might want to be choosing that EARLIER start date!

Why would I say anything so crazy, well, it is simple. The semester for all medical schools, as far as I know, ends before Christmas. However, the content for each semester is the same. So, if you want to have a life, go for the school that has the longer semester. You will have more free time, more time to learn the information, and not feel like you have to study every minute of your lives. I know I would certainly have liked one more week to learn everything for my anatomy final than one more week of goofing around before school started.

My school actually started the end of July and while I was not happy about that when it started, I have been very grateful for the slower pace...not to mention we got a week off after midterms...you cannot imagine how necessary this was for my sanity.

Just my opinion and something you may not have considered before.
