I know many people use HY Neuro for their pictures (angiograms, MRI's, etc). I have BRS Neuroanatomy. I know that BRS is a longer version of HY, but I want to know if BRS has the same pictures as HY since they are both from the same author. It does seem to have some nice pictures, but I don't know if they are the same as HY. I want to use it to supplement Kaplan Lecture notes (Or Clinical Neuro made ridiculously simple... havent decided), along with podcasts/atlas from my amazing Neuroanatomy instructor at school.

To be honest, I don't really like any of the neuro review sources I've seen. The BRS is probably the worst of the series, the Road Map is basically just a textbook in smaller print and paperback, and NMRS just really isn't that helpful. I haven't seen the HY, though, for whatever that's worth. I'll be sticking with FA and Haines's atlas (neuroanatomy is a bitch) along with UW for my neuro studying.

+1. I wasn't entirely sold on HY Neuro... FA (with Wikipedia to clarify) + Goljan was more than adequate for the neuroanatomy and pathology (at least for my class it was). I haven't exactly decided what atlas to use yet though.

I use a PDF version of HY neuro and own a BRS neuro as well ,been using these two combined for my neuro study.

Yep, I find the pics in both the books almost the same, only added bonus in HY is that you have more comprehensive labelled figures ( for instance the brain tumors) and some additional brainstem slices and CN figs.

Overalll, I find both books almost the same though....but when it comes down to a quick read during crunch time, HY is way more concise and diagrams are easily laid out in the first chapter and I won't be sweating much about the pics- both are almost comparable. I use the BRS pics when I get sick of having the my PDF HY pics onscreen all the time.

GL!

CAVEAT: I found the webpath neuro pics pretty helpful too.
