Does anyone suggest going through the neuroanatomy BRS? I've started studying it and it seems rather dense...am i going to end up wasting alot of time? If not, what might you recommend reviewing for neuro instead? Thanks

neuroanatomy was heavily-tested on my Step 1. I used BRS and lecture notes from MS1 and honestly, my lecture notes were much more high yield than BRS. But others might disagree.
point to be taken: good call on noticing that neuroanatomy is something that you need to work on - it could end up saving your Step 1 score.

I liked High Yield better, but yeah. Based on mine and others experiences, I'd call neuro almost "overtested".

hey peeps and anybody else that has taken step1 for that matter, how many questions on neuro did you ocme across on your step 1?

please reply in a n/350 manner

Is it just me or is neuro a huge frikin waste of time? it is almost like 99% of the stuff that is on the BRS, Q-banks etc. is stuff that any non-neuro physician wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.

I vote they pull all the neuro questions and ask more human sexuality questions😀

Hi

I have a Neuro question but did not want to start another thread. Based on experience only pls, can you tell if FA neuro is sufficient. Honestly it is about 50 pages which is relatively much. I have taken a look at the Hy but it's pretty dense and not too good lucking..... i know

I really liked Neuro when we covered it in school but i have to say that anything anatomy is not my part of my fave 5.

If you guys have any advise about how to approach Neuro, that wil be appreciated.

Yeah, how much detail exactly do you have to know for neuro? GSA, SSA, etc. for all cranial nerves? All those random cranial nerve nuclei? I'd like to think that HY neuro is way too detailed, but I don't know if that's the case.

like i said in my previous post, i had a ton of neuro questions (>30) on my step 1 (both neuroanatomy and neuropathology). neuro is definitely high yield.

Can anyone really safely say that a particular topic (besides path and pharm) is 'definitely high yield'?

Don't these Step 1 exams vary from test taker to test taker? One person may get tons of questions on, let's say, microbiology, but some other person may get literally 4 micro questions. Same with neuroanatomy.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

it is safe to say that microbiology, pathology and biochemistry are high yield. almost everybody gets a fair bit of micro, path and biochem questions. someone might have a micro heavy test (e.g. >40 questions), but almost everyone will run into 20+ questions in each of the high yield subject. neuro (esp. neuroanatomy) is usually next in order of importance for step 1.

I think HY Neuro generally has the right level of detail, but I wouldn't bother with the GSA/SSA/whatever crap

I had about 3 neuroanatomy questions per block, so about 20/350.
