Hey,

Were any of you specifically looking at the neuroscience branches of MSTP programs? Would you care to share your thoughts from visits/interviews?

I just made sure the school I was applying to had a decent # of neuroscience labs. I also checked if the schools had any bigshot neuroscience, neurology, and psychiatry chairpersons, as famous chairs tend to attract successful P.I.s

columbia and UCSF.

I think this really depends on wht kind of neuroscience you're interested in. While Columbia and UCSF rank highly in cellular and molecular neuroscience, they are not really well known for cognitive neuroscience. UCSD is a well-rounded program, as is UCLA, Harvard/MIT, WashU, Pittsburgh and UPenn.
