Never give up on Medicine if it is something you really want to do!!

In short, I applied to medical school three times before getting accepted. I am AA and grew up in the rough streets of Louisiana, served 8 years in the military and also did a tour in Iraq as a combat medic (new book on amazon about this called Overcoming the Odds). Now, I am in residency for Orthopedic Surgery. Residency is busy but I appreciate it because of everything that I went through. So, I just wanted to write some words of encouragement for those of you out there who are applying. Never give up!
