Hi guys, long time lurker here.

I was accepted to my in-state school off the waitlist at the end of June and wrote a letter informing them I would accept a position at the school. I have since received financial aid information and health forms and have begun looking for housing.

I got an email today from another school that is OOS that I was more interested in while I was interviewing, conveying that I was accepted off of their waitlist. Even if I was interested in attending this new school now, would I be able to rescind my acceptance from my in-state to attend the OOS school?

Would you? Yes.
Should you? No.

Thanks for your responses! Had I heard about the OOS school initially, I probably would've been set on going there, but the practicality of staying in state is fairly appealing. I just wanted to see what my options were, even if going out of state was even one.

Also, I have not had to pay any deposits at all for my school. The only investment I have really made to my in-state school was an application fee for an apartment I was interested in.
