Maybe we hear and maybe we don’t. Remember that this nonsense doesn’t define you. I have a great LSAT score and I’m running with it at this point. Good luck to everyone getting back on the medical school cycle ride. Be great doctors. If not, we may meet again… bwahahhaha. Seriously though, I thought that I would be feeling awful as I start looking at where to apply to law school and so on but instead, I’m excited again for my future and the medical school application process kind of had killed that in me. Unanswered prayers

KINGGGGGG😎😎😎😎

The school I had the best chance at getting in at accepted a whole bunch of people of the WL today 🙁. I spent the past hour sending continued interest emails after already submitting LOI's. I'm so tired of begging on my knees for sloppy seconds at places that will likely ghost me on the WL until class starts

Big one I was rooting for you man 👊🏿

Cheers ya'll. Posting on here to join you fellow waitlist warrriors cause boy, has it been a wild month seeing all the acceptances fly by. Writing up a continued interest letter as we speak. At this point it ain't even about the career, its about not getting dressed down by parents and getting softlocked into a 3-hour lecture cutscene as soon as I walk into the living room.

Love seeing you winning after waiting this long, getting your top choice makes it that much sweeter!! Congrats Doc <3

Is it still worth sending another letter of interest/intent?

I sent one after my interview in January, a follow up intent post-WL in early march, an extra LOR in late March, and an email to admission inquiring about WL movement/notifying them about a CTE date to another school two weeks ago.

Is it worth it to upload another letter of intent? If so, what is worth putting in it at this point?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated 🙏🏾🙏🏾

related question: for additional LORs do you send it through AMCAS or have the letter writer email the school directly?

I think you've sent enough contact. At this point it's getting late.

if you have application updates sure. If not and you’re just asking them to let you in, I doubt it’ll change anything, especially if you already have an A. Most schools would rather give an A to someone without one than someone who has one at this point in the cycle.

Which is exactly why I am not telling these schools about my Acceptance. WL from an MD school got into a DO school, so I dont think they'd know.

I'm on 3 WL and there has been movement but still no news... Is it time to begin the reapplication 🙁

I don't even know what I could change or improve on at this point. I've been working the same job since applying last year. I talked to the dean of a med school and they said my app was great (MCAT, ECs, writing, interviews) so I'm just so confused and frustrated I don't even know what I could change but I also would feel so dumb throwing out the same application and hoping for a different outcome...

I'm just so drained man 🙁

Is it true medical schools can see if your have an Acceptance? There more likely to give it to someone that doesn’t have an acceptance if you are up in the list of waitlist?

No they cannot see if you have an A unless you tell them. Some applicants think they should tell a school they’re waitlisted at that they have other options and CTE deadlines to try to put pressure on a school to pick them or lose them. Usually just ends up with a school saying “Cool, you have an acceptance, hope to see your residency application in four years.”

As someone that was told for the 3rd year in a row from a few places I applied that my application is great and to keep trying, I know how that feels. The process has become so competitive where you can do everything right but still not get in.
Primary is already open to submit so by the time you are ready to apply it may put you behind other applicants. Lots of people get in with late apps, but if it’s the same application that limits you.
However, you can still have the same application but with different reflections and story. Dig deep about your experiences, try to figure out why you did each one, and how that ties into your overall narrative of why medicine. I doubled my interviews by doing that with a relatively similar application.
Also nothing wrong with taking another year off to make your next application the best it can be.

I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that starting this year medical institutions can see if applicants have other A’s, they just can’t see where. I do think it has the possibility to influence whether or not they give you an A. Obviously it depends like Harvard obviously knows everyone will withdraw to go to their program so they can confidently choose someone with an A over one without if they really want them. And there are also the schools who could care less about yield rates like usf, due to prioritizing stats. But there are schools who want a low yield, or may have a quota to fill, in terms of rounding out their class. So they will most likely choose a student without an A knowing they will for sure matriculate. So in summary it depends on the institution.

How does this translate across MD vs DO? If someone has a DO A, and no MDs will an MD school know they have a DO A? Or is it only if you have other MD As?

This all seems pretty speculative. It's more likely that it's just less likely to get an A off the WL as each day passes rather than people passing on you for already having an A.

I haven’t seen any changes on this but would be interested if you could find it again. From my knowledge medical schools only have info on if their accepted students have selected PTE on CYMS. If you’re waitlisted they may be able to see if you have PTE or CTE at another program but I have seen nothing fully supporting that. Whole thing is confusing and there are countless threads going back years asking about it haha

It’s more about applicants trying to pressure schools to take a student off the WL by saying they have other options. Works inversely too with students sounding desperate saying they have no other A’s so the school is their last chance. It’s school specific but either way one thing that’s for sure is all schools hate being told by an applicant that they should do something. Prove it in update letters with new experiences/pubs/awards why they made a mistake in not taking you sooner or in future applications, not through flexing an abundance or absence of A’s

Hi gang! Is there anything else that I can do as a final push for my waitlists before I resubmit my new app. The admissions office said they predict that seats will open up, but they haven't filled any yet?

Submit your app to one school and wait to be verified. While you’re in the 3 week period of submission before medical schools can see applications/send secondaries in late June send a LOI if you haven’t with any worthwhile updates (100+ hours in new activity, publication, award). If that doesn’t sway you to an A you still have your primary application in early and if it does get you an A you only wasted ~100$ instead of 1000s

I think this is the best explanation.

Best to start on a new application at this point if one hasn't heard back though.

Hoping we all get into our dream program!
