I had heard that the army and AF are going to be switching to new BDU's next year, is that correct? if so, are we going to use current ones for COT, then have to buy new ones next summer?

thanks

no idea about the AF, the army has new ones out already that the generals and CSM's are wearing. I would only but one or two sets for OBC.

you can add the Navy to that list too. They are in the middle of a uniform overhaul and it appears they too will be changing BDU's in the near future.

We (Army) are going to the ACU which does have a lot of changes (search this forum for previous posts) with general issuing to start sometime this summer. The latest news that I heard is that the issuing has been put on hold because it was decided that the uniform needed to be a little darker.

Isn't the mandatory possession date something like April 2008?

Call the OBC cadre and find out what they want you to wear. If you can, I would go ahead and buy the new BDU's because you're going to have to have them eventually.

On a related note, does anybody know what you are supposed to wear on ADT? Class B?

Thanks.

For the most part the ACU is not available, so I doubt you will have to wear it to OBC. Also, one should wear the Class B to ADT, but that depends on your department (obviously if you are doing surgery you need scrubs, etc). Also at this time in the military most people choose between the BDU and the Class B. Some places are a little more strict, some less.
