I truly appreciate all these different suggestions from everyone. I think it is wonderful that there are so many people willing to take time out of their busy day to reply to my questions and concerns and share their professional and personal experiences. Reading topics posted by others also increased my knowledge of what questions I haven't thought of but should be. I have only discovered this incredible site last Sunday, but the amount of support and connections I have made in such a short period of time is unbelievable. I have never done this interactive communication thing before but now I see that this is what I was looking for to help me find the best path to becoming a doctor and achieving my dream. I hope this message doesn't sounds too cheesy, but I just wanted to let everyone know that what you've posted on this site made an impact on me and how I am approaching this medical school application process. Just in case if you don't already know from my previous inquiries, I am a junior and will be taking the MCAT this spring, so I will be asking alot more questions. Thanks again.

Mai,

That's part of the D.O. difference.

Remember that an osteopathic education is
something extra not something else.

Mai,
I just found out this site recently too and I love it. The interaction and advice truely is honest and helpful. I wish I had known of something like this when I started.
It sounds like you are on your way on becoming a physician. It's an challenging task, but it is totally possible. The main thing is to not give up. Good luck on your future!

Mai and everybody,

I agree with Mai that this site is very special, and the people who participate in it make me proud and will make the osteopathic profession proud as well. Thank you Gregory and Dr. Burnett for working so hard to give premeds/DO students/DO physicians a forum to discuss our profession and concerns. I did not know anything about osteopathic medicine until a friend in college told me about it during my sophomore year. She changed my views on how medicine should be practiced, and this blossomed into my enthusiasm for the osteopathic philosophy. I'd like to thank everybody for all their great advice, I wouldn't be going to WesternU in the Fall without your help.

Mai, keep doing what you are doing to reach your goal of becoming a doctor. Whether you become a DO or an MD, just remember that what is most important is that you put the patient's concerns first. Prestige can only get you so far, when your patients are vomiting, prestige has no place in their care.

Good luck,

EDGAR
