I took my DAT a couple of days ago and did really bad. To be honest, I wasn't expecting to do that badly. I initially tried to do the "search and destroy" method for the RC section. When I realized that wouldn't work, I guessed my way through the first passage then read and answered the last two. I was wondering if there are any schools out there that will accept these scores especially with a 16 RC. If so, please let me know which ones. Also, I am not sure I have enough time to retake the DAT again. Please Help!

Stats I see in this forum you should need a 3.9+ gpa to be considered with that DAT and this late. Also some sexy ECs (taking a bullet for Obama will suffice).

USC, Western, Stonybrook think RC is somewhat unimportant. So, you can try those with a 16 RC, but your other scores are mediocre as well. Your best bet is to retake.

Just apply and hope for the best! No one here can view your application in its entirety, so it'd be unfair to say you're not qualified because of average DAT scores.. Who knows? If your GPA, EC's, statement, and recs are impressive enough, you may have a better shot then some applicants with stellar scores.

Check 2012 ADEA Official Guide to Dental Schools to see which schools accept stats most similar to yours. Retaking the DAT wouldn't hurt, of course. Especially if you'll apply again next year.

You DAT score is on the little lower side than average. just because of RC you might have trouble with some schools. and as you can see it has also brought down you AA. I would suggest you retake the dat. you just had a bad day and you freaked out on your exam which resulted in you switching your tactic.

I would suggest that you retake but this time come up with a strategy and practice the hell out of it and stick to it on your exam. And you will do well.

On the bright side you will only need 1-2 points improvement in couple of the sections. I bet that if you practice and review little bit more you can score higher.

Well if you are not sure if you have enough time, just wait till jan or feb and if you do not hear anything from school such as interview or acceptance start studying for the dat again. I am recommending a retake now because you have reviewed everything, if you keep on doing it you will only get better. But if you take a break till jan or feb you might start forgetting stuff. So still go with the score you have but start preparing for retake. Remember some schools call for interviews even in april.
