New Osteopathic school in Atlanta??

I went to the AACOM website today, and was looking at the map of Osteopathic schools and noticed that they just opened one in Atlanta??This is the first time that I've seen it on the map. But does anybody have any information about it, other than they are affiliated with PCOM??They say that they are mainly gearing towards accepting students from Georgia and the states surrounding it........I live in Louisiana, thats pretty close to GA isn't it??They also mention that they are looking for ppl who are mainly interested in training students who want to practicing osteopathic medicine in rural and innercity areas. But my interests are in sports medicine or Endocrinology, so I guess it would not serve me well to go their if that is the case. What do the rest of you think??????????????????

I believe that the school is supposed to open up next year. Many of the Osteopathic schools emphasize rural med & primary care, but that doesn't mean they won't take students who want to do something else. It usually does mean that you'll end up doing more primary care rotations during 3rd & 4th years, though.

if you know the area...its gonna be on the lawrenceville/grayson border on hwy 124. Its about 45 mins from downtown atlanta with no traffic. I live 3 miles from where its gonna open up soo you can pm me if you want specifics on the area

As a DO once told me, just tell them you want to do primary care in a rural area.

This is disgusting! ARE YOU LISTENING AOA? HOW ABOUT SOME MORE RESIDENCY SPOTS INSTEAD OF SCHOOLS???

We're already taking too many students than we can handle.
