Hi guys

I am from Texas and am applying this may after i graduate. I just recently to apply to some DO schools, however the only one I am familiar with is TCOM/UNTHSC, and I was wondering what other DO schools are semi close to Texas and if they have a similar reputation as TCOMs which I understand is very good. Thanks for taking the time to read!

This will get you started.

The schools in Missouri are both great schools, and they are reasonably close to Texas. There are many opinions as to what schools are the good ones, but most people will tell you to look at the older and more established schools. Do some searching on the forums, and read the CIB (above link).

Good Luck!

Florida is semi-close (closer than the east coast, anyway) and has two very good schools. I'm also from Texas and received interviews at both NSU-COM and LECOM-B (the Florida schools) but ended up choosing TCOM. I would not have objected to either of the schools in Florida, but TCOM is close and I really liked what I saw there. 🙂

There are several other more southern osteopathic schools you can apply to. The link provided above is a great resource. Good luck in the coming cycle!

Oklahoma State is close ... but I think everyone in TX hates Oklahoma. Hahaha.

Being a Texas resident your best bet is TCOM, IMO. Mondo cheap tuition and a very respectable school. Most DO schools are private and will not be able to even get close to competing with TCOM as far as tuition is concerned.

It also matters what you mean by semi-close to Texas.
