I know I posted a question about this under the DickVet c/of 2014/15 thread, but I want non-DickVets to know about it.

A new TV show regarding the work at a vet hospital is airing in the UK called "Vet School". You can read about it here and if you click on catch-up, you can watch the first episode. http://programmes.stv.tv/vet-school

What are your thoughts on it?

I think there was a similar show back in the early 2000's that followed students in the UK. I only ever caught one or two episodes but if I recall I felt it followed the vet students more closely than this show seems to.

I agree. They shouldn't call this show "Vet School," rather they should call it "Vet School Hospital." I wish it focused on the students more.

Do you by any chance remember the name of the show? I'd be interested in watching a few episodes... But yeah, I agree, this show wasn't focused on the students unfortunately, but I still enjoyed it! 🙂

Apparently it was also titled 'Vet school' and it followed final year students at Bristol Vet school in Langford and it aired in 1996. Can't recall when it may have hit US TV's. I'm fairly sure it was after 1996 but can't be sure. It must have been on the discovery channel or the learning channel... something of that nature.

at this point I haven't been able to find any video of it online.

I was wondering why I'd never seen a vet student show. Reckon we're just not interesting enough/can be caricatured well enough ala Scrubs lol.

Most of us were quite happy they didn't focus so much on the students. I think I managed to dodge even background shots (a well timed rotation through Pathology!)

One of the students in the previous show (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0321010/) named Trude did a through-and-through injection (in one side and out the other) on tape and to this day every vet I've seen practice with has called that "doing a Trude." (And haven't we all. 😉 ) The head of teaching reserved the right of absolute veto for our sakes.

It would be better PR for the school and for students considering the profession if it showed more teaching, but I think that's probably not what the public want. Exotics is quite a large department at the school, with excellent teaching staff, but it looks way busier than the other services, mostly because porcupines are so dang cute and that's what people would rather see. Second episode should be up shortly. 🙂

There was an Animal Planet show in 2001 called Vet School Confidential. It followed students at Michigan State. I never saw it, but I would like to...

There used to be a Canadian one that followed students at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at U of Sask, called Campus Vets. Didn't run very long though, unfortunately, since it was really interesting.

I watch animal cops, vet school confidental, ER Vets, ER-Vet interns and this british one I can't remeber the name cause I dont' watch it mcuh cuase they make itlike a soap opera.

ER vets is filmed in my city which is pretty cool.

They also had one about the vet college at AVC. I only caught it once a couple of years ago.

Animal Planet had one called E-vet Interns a couple of years ago. The University of Florida grad that interned at Alameda East did orthopedic surgery on both of my dog's hind legs. Never saw the show, didn't know who he was until later.

Last semester, a couple people and cameraman came into our anatomy lab to film while we were working. When we asked about it later, we were told that they were pitching a show to a network that would mainly involve filming at the new Small Animal hospital that is opening at NCSU soon. I didn't get an specifics then and I don't know what ended up happening with that but I figured I would share that little tid-bit.

What is Vet School Confidential? Is that the full name? I can't find it online. 🙁

Me neither but now I'm watching random dissections and surgeries on YouTube, lol.
