What're everyone's goals for the new year? Anyone is welcome to chime in!

Mine is to own a cat, maybe a lot of them. Run a full marathon. And get my car all fixed up for the big move come July.

Oh and start shipping lots of Mexican food to the Midwest.

My goal: Don't take life that seriously and to work your hardest and don't give up on your goals.

My one goal: have more cats than you.

I actually wrote a three page letter to myself to open up in exactly a year. I summed up 2014 and set some personal goals for next year. When I read it in Dec. 2015, I'll see how many of those things I accomplished and/or whether or not they are even important to me then. It will be interesting.

@AlteredScale 's goal = moar cats.....color me shocked! 😉

I suck at these new year goal things, but here it goes. For the next 5 months my goals are to play a lot of guitar, hopefully getting over my 5 year musical writers block and getting some recording done, continue tweaking my PC and work on my backlog of PC games. Then after 5 months move for school. Then bust my ass in medical school for the balance of the year.

Want to start exercising regularly again. I'm active, but not in shape. Gonna try to find somewhere to play indoor soccer for winter

Actually take myself seriously when I say that I am (really) going to re-write my notes after every class the entire semester.
🙄
yeah right... that's never going happen

Why do you like cats? I'm genuinely curious because, although I love all animals and care for their wellbeing, I find cats to be insufferable. They pee on stuff and shed and yowl...jeez. Dogs are similar in that they shed and stink pretty much constantly, but I can tolerate them in small doses.

What I really love are birds. ^.^ And farm animals likes horses, cows, pigs, goats, etc. I actually want to run a small sanctuary one day...that can be my new year's resolution for 2045.

I have a similar plan with a farm animals sanctuary! But that's only for a faaar faaar future when I have enough land and money to take care of them properly as pets. I don't like birds though, I have a weird fear that they will poke my eye with their beaks. And claws < paws. Love dogs and cats.

This is my bird. Let the cuteness flow through you. To keep this OT, I'm resolving to snuggle with him even more in 2015.

HAhAHA well it all started with my GF being a cat lady. At first I hated their attitude but I soon realize that I was thoroughly entertained with their personality despite it being sassy. After hanging out with my GF's cats I've realized that they do a lot of funny things (like hide under your blanket, or wake you up for breakfast, or suddenly freak out for no reason).

Then my SO introduced me to a cat in a house she was house sitting for and I just fell in love. He was gorgeous: green eyes, fur that was groomed so he looked like a mini lion, and a really smart personality. He would always have his outdoor break where we just open the back screen and he would explore the entire neighborhood and come back around 6pm for dinner. When he did come back we had to give him a bath but because we did it daily he never freaked out like other cats! He just sat there all chill and would spend the next 2 hours licking himself to death to redo his coat haha.

I think it was their personality that won me over. I'm sure the untrained ones would piss me off but they seem to get acquainted fairly quickly to your residence.

Alright these patron shots are making me ramble but yeah that's why I love cats yo.

@J Senpai your bird is glorious.

We had a bird similar to yours though but she recently passed away :/ we couldn't snuggle her...she'd always hiss and bite! But she was cute either way.

I have another new years resolution, create an SDN meet up where we all bring out pets and hang out and bicker about our lives over food.

Take myself off the back burner and make ME a priority again.

We'll see how that goes!

I am actually going to get as fluffy as possible. Like hella fluff.

Haha good philosophy. I say every year "this is the year where I start an exercise routine and stick with it", it always lasts precisely a week and then its over.

HAHAHA seriously. It's sad that I can get more motivated to study bookwork then go out and exercise. 😛

Totally on the same page.

I originally looked for one of those bodybuilding 'turned into a cloud' meme, but then I found this one. The guitar. The cat. The fluff. All in one place.

Hahaha, it is a funny clip to watch. Just remember to incorporate some compound lifting exercises into your routine.

I do P90X, weights, and running/hiking. I just get lazy when it's cold outside. Hard to keep motivated

keeping with the fitness theme: I want to do 5 pull ups with no assist. I can do one at the moment.

What does assist mean? Also do you do hanging pull ups, or as I call them, real pull ups? I hate when people don't go all way, it's only working out your arms if you don't go all the way down and hang before going up. You want your lats to get stronger and that will enable you to do more.

So an assisted pull up machine just provides some weight to help with the pressure up. I think that's what he was referring to when he/she meant with "no assist"

A couple of goals for the new year:

1) Watch all episodes of Friends
2) Watch all episodes of ER
3) Get in better shape
4) Dress better
5) Eat more healthy
6) Have more sex

Pretty exhaustive list, but what gives?

Oh that lever thing you stand on with the counter weight on the end.
Yeah I'm a girl so its a lil' harder for me to bulk up haha ~ but at least there is less weight to lift!

Right. My SO would do pushups to get her arms stronger, then do back hand pull ups until she had enough strength to do a front hand.

When I was in high school, the Marines would come to recruit and they would he bring a pull up bar to challenge people. There was a girl who was a really good gymnast and she did 29 front hand pull ups in a row. 😱

Regardless of it being narrow or wide grip, this is impressive. I can do a fair number of pull-ups, but not this many. I remember the military requiring 25 pull-ups to get a free t-shirt.

Lolz.

When I was a 4th year med student one of my preceptors said, "let me guess you're applying for ortho" when he first met me. It made me happy, hah.
Dude you missed your calling! Tis is why you're unhappy
