To enjoy life. Seriously, after all the applications, all the worrying, the perfectionism, I have completely forgotten how fun it is to just *be.*

If you don't mind sharing, do you go to school full time, raise your children, and work full time at the same time?

not quite full time, work about 16-20 hours/wk as a cna in a hospital and 10 hours/wk in the cell biology lab as a research assistant, boarder line full time: at my school 12hrs (i.e. 3 upper div bio classes with labs), and yes-help the 5 year old with homework, cook din, change diapers, usual mommy stuff and TRY to go out at least once a month with friends to try to remember that im only 24:laugh:

I don't do resolutions. But here are things that are going to happen within the next year:
1) I am going to thoroughly enjoy my last semester of college.
2) I am going to keep my medical school options in perspective.
3) I will do everything in my power to help my friends who are studying for the MCAT.
4) I will let myself relax during my summer break and enjoy spending carefree time with my "graduation" kitten
5) I will do well in my first semester of med school without going crazy.

(another big sigh) glad she's in med school and not in app pool for next round with me:laugh:

I have no worries. I will be probably applying by the time she graduates from medical school.

Mine are simple:

- get rid of any and all credit card debt
- start living a more minimalist life...how minimalist will I go? Not sure yet...

I make my 'Resolutions' in September, actually. It works way better for me that way. It looks like this:

Things I want out of life by Sept. 2010:

  • Be an RA for a good building.
  • Back to Red Cross Duties (2~3 times/month)
  • Members in EDAX
  • Have a pet (crab/hamster/something)
  • $3000 in savings account
  • No more student loans
  • Lambda Alpha membership
  • Finished manuscript
  • My info in the bone marrow bank
  • A scholarship. Seriously.
  • Regular trips to the gym
  • Pass JLPT level 2 (がんばって!)
  • A decent, healthy diet
  • Visit family out East
  • Freelance writing job
  • 3.5+ GPA
The most significant? A scholarship. I've put in exactly 65 scholarship applications so far and haven't won a single one. (Suck THAT, Ben Kaplan.)

Yeah. Lofty goals, lol.

  • Find a girlfriend who is attractive AND intelligent/hard working/dedicated as a student
  • continue making A's in prereqs
  • build a solid mentor relationship with a physician
  • do away with unhealthy eating habits
  • get involved in the university's intramural sports program

- Get more involved in things outside of school
- I foolishly bought new jeans after our version of "bootcamp" this last summer, and of course I no longer fit into them. I would love to work out enough to fit into them again, but I won't be crushed if I don't.
- Beat the boys at pushups and situps 🙂

Get a 4.0 this semester.
Get into a summer research program
Get involved in intramural sports.
Stop procrastinating as much... haha. It's always a resolution for me, but never seems to happen.
Volunteer at the hospital more and start shadowing.
Be more organized with my exec positions.... I've been a little slacking at my social chair position of my sorority. haha.

I feel like I've accomplished most of my resolutions from last year, so hopefully these get done as well!

1. Lose the 40 lbs I gained studying for the MCATs and applying - got too busy to go to the gym

2. ACE my interviews in Jan

3. Get accepted into medical school 🙂

4. Finish all my PS3 games before I buy an XBOX

5. Create a medical missions for the summer

-Start training more seriously for an upcoming full or half marathon.
-Figure out time management.
-Find some meaningful relationships that might actually last after college and med school, etc.
-Ditch the freaky eating habits.
-Ignore my family's negative attitude, comments, and etc.
-Stop worrying about everything.

In no particular order:

1. Do well in medical school and make a lot of new friends.
2. Get a girlfriend.
3. Finish college strong and have a great/memorable last semester.
4. Find a job to occupy me this summer while I wait to start medical school.
5. Continue my workout routine at the gym.

2) This will last 3 weeks.

3) Same as 2.

5) You have to actively remind yourself to do that?

My NYR is to

1. Exercise

2. Study Hard

3. Be helpful to my fellow classmates

Oh wait I already do those things and don't need a NYR to continue.

I know you didn't ask me, but I did full time school, full time work, and raised kids all at the same time. It can be done. It's just challenging and requires good time management.
