just FYI, if you're a native speaker of arabic (or any language i guess) and you take the classes for that language, be prepared to answer the following question during interviews:
"so arabic was an easy A?" or something like "that must've helped your gpa..."

this was brought up during two of my interviews...

For me, it would be that I took the class to learn formal Arabic. I grew up with non-formal/non-educated Arabic where I didn't learn how to read or write. And I would say it was actually difficult to differentiate my dialect with the formal dialect my professor wanted. I'm not doing it to pad my GPA, I really want to be fully proficient in Arabic, that's why I am taking it. Also, I might want to practice in the Middle East, so that might be a possibility. Also, learning formal Arabic helps you learn other dialects in a way.

What was your answer?

good answer 😉

for me, arabic is not my native tongue and i don't speak it at home 😀 i guess they just made some assumptions because of where i'm from. and along the lines of what you mentioned, i wanted to learn some formal arabic as well and do some higher level writing.

I'm not a native speaker. Arabic 1 went great...An easy A because I'm so interested in it. Our class had a large cultural aspect to it -- we on occasion took a visit to a mosque, or restaurant (for an exam -- ordering in Arabic). I'm actually currently applying to the Middlebury language school in Vermont (middlebury.edu) for Arabic next summer. Crossing my fingers for that.

Our class started with 25, ended with about 11, though.

Some crazy people here.
Either they're geniuses or they're going to really easy schools... OR they're not going to med school after 6 class semesters, which will most likely end without a provost's honors.

I'm going into my second semester as a freshman.

English II
Speech
Bio II
Chem I
Algebra

Yeah I'm taking algebra. Should I be taking something else as a math? It seems this is my only choice since I just got out of developmental math.

I would highly advise you to take at least Pre-Calc or Calculus. Most schools have a "business-calculus" or a calculus that isn't meant for further advancement in math. You focus more on topics of calculus and applications rather than calculation, theory, etc.

It won't be doable till next fall. I'm definitely going to have to take algebra since pre-req for pre-cal is trig and I haven't done that yet. Looks like I'm far behind in math.

It depends. I took Beginners Piano and Aerobics this semester and they can be stressful too (too time consuming for a freaking 1 hour class).

Although in the end practicing piano is still better than studying for molecular genetics.

One of my hardest classes was introduction to drawing. During the summer 8 a.m. till 12 a.m. everyday of the week...then we would have assignments that would take a minimum of 5 to 6 hours for the short ones, with one of them taking me 30+ hours in 4 days or so....I feel for art majors because of that course.

I'm a percussionist, so anything ranging from snare and bass to xylophone and vibraphone, even triangle and the occasional tambourine :-D

I'm a fan of four mallet marimba, with occasional jazz vibe stuff.....corp stuff excluded from the equation. Snare kind of bored me during concert music.

21 hours with organic? Why are you taking physical chemistry II if you are a philosophy/psychology double major? I call shenanigans. It seems also that a lot of people are putting 20+ hours on here.
