I'm not alone on this so I thought I'd start a fun new thread! The amount of nicknames that have morphed from my pets' names is ridiculous. I'll start the first example of the morphing path and everyone can take my lead. Don't be embarrassed.....I know we all do it!! 😀

Jack-->Jack Attack-->Jacky-->Jackeet-->Jaquita Banana

So my cat's name is Barnaby, and it goes like this:

Barnaby -> Barna -> Barna Arna -> Barna Baby

Sickening, I know. Barna Baby? Just seeing that typed out makes me so embarrassed for myself...

Haha. Nice thread.

Rajah --> Raj --> Raji --> Raji-roo or sometimes Raji-rah

Figaro --> Fig --> Figgy

I've had Rajah for 5 years and Fig for only about 9 months, though, so as more time goes by I'm sure his name will evolve further. My dad calls him "Figster." 😛

Preston-->Pressy-->Presto-->Boo-Boo-->Boo-Boo Skid-doo-doo

Henry-->Henri-->Hen-Pen-->Jealous Pot-->JP

Mine are pretty non-sensicle. Preston got nicknamed Boo-Boo when he bumped his head a lot as a puppy. I don't know where I got the Skid-doo-doo but he answers to it.

Henry is jealous of anything anyone gets that he doesn't--Preston is playing with a toy, Henry wants it; Preston is getting petted, Henry wants to get petted. But I don't know how we got Jealous Pot, though. Maybe because he's a pot of jealousy???

We also call Henry "Sewer Breath" for obvious reasons, but he won't answer to that. The above ones are the names my dogs actually answer to!

I dont do this myself, and now Im wondering if something is wrong with me since its seeems so fun. But Ive watched my BF morph her dogs name, so I will share hers.

Oliver>Olive>Ollie>Olliebug> Lovebug> Poopster (he has IBD)

Stanley -> Stanley....

Pearl -> Evil blood drawing B*#$%

LOL.....I like the random nicknames that come out of nowhere and have nothing to do with the original name! 🙂

Lucy>LucyLoo>Luce Goose> Lucifer (on bad kitty days, she IS a Siamese afterall :meanie:)

Bobbi > Bob > Bobbit (she's a Manx)

I'll chime in too - for my current 4 Rats:

Suki > Suki Dookie > Dookie > Dukers

Samira > Sammy > Sam > Bam Bam

Nala > Nala Bear > Care Bear

Tara > Tara the Horror (not my chosen nickname for her, but it rhymes) > TarTar

And then the Cat -- Kali -- not many variations off of that...at least not yet...

I like this thread I have a whole list

Diva>Diva Doggie> puppy> ferdy fuppy> ferd>

Nate>nathaniel>pops

Mama> Big Momma > beast>

Chinny > chinny monster > creature of the night

Yoshi (dachshund)---> Yotzi-Kotzi-->Yoshkin (Russian twist 😀)-->Dachshund-Waksund (no idea 😀)

Sonya (pitbull mix)--->Sonya Poop 🙂o)--->Sonya Kalbasonya (again, random Russian twist)--->Morda Krokodil'ya (rough translation: crocodile face 😀😳)--->Sobaka Kusaka (bad Russian for "dog that bites", which she doesn't)-->Son'kin (again, Russian twist)

Mercury (orange tabby DSH)-->Merk-->Orange Cream--->Orangy Baby-->Dreamy-Creamy
(My husband still calls him "Kitten" after 2 years, because we already had a cat when we got him).

Christopher (black DSH)-->only answers to "Kitty"

OMG, I should be arrested for animal abuse 😀😳.

Legolas (Basset/Border Terrier Cross)-->Lego-->Lego My Eggo-->Lego Puppy

Terri (Border Terrier)-->Ter-Bear

Sasha (Grey Tabby DSH)-->Sasha Kitty-->Fat Cat

Nealan-->Mr. Coconut-->Gollum-->Snakey (he's a snake)

We used to have a guinea pig named Paprika that somehow became Poppy, and a husky named Noelani (my icon) that became Lani and/or No-No

glad I'm not the only one. As for mine...

Lizzi -> Lizzi Borden -> Heathen -> Lizbo -> Lezbo (yea, not that way) -> Lizzer -> Lizard. I'm happy with Lizard, so I think I'm done now.

Zoë (pit bull/whippet) - Pokey - Pokester - Pokerooni - Puhzoe - Pozie - Zozie - Puperoo - Puperooni - Poke-a-pozie - Zosasafro

Jean-Luc (german shepherd mix) - JL - Picard - Jean-Luxi - Puperoo - Puperooni

these all sound cooler in person and many more come out on the fly

Izmere -> Izzy -> Izmoo -> Moozer

Skwisgaar -> Squishy -> Squishgurgle -> Gaaarrr (must be said in pirate voice)

Bill the Cat -> Billy -> Beer-y

D'Arcy -> Princess D'Arce -> Princess McMeow -> Meow Mix

Pockets --> Pickets --> Pick-picks
Spaz --> Spaz-spaz
Bear --> Bear-bear

Hey, I've just noticed a theme.

Nipo (DSH tabby) --> Kitty --> Neeps --> Nippopotamus --> Kitty

Kirk (Border Collie) --> Kirkie --> Kirk'ums --> Kirkus --> Kirkiekins --> Kirkumstantial evidence --> Stinky --> Gimpy --> Gimpykins --> Kirkie

Kirkumstantial evidence had me rolling on the floor!! :laugh:

Sherman (shepherd/Malamute) > Sherm > Sherm-Sherm > Sherminator

Sonny (shepherd/Shiba Inu) > Small Dog (he's new and half the size of Sherman, and this is my name for him)

Charlotte (black DSH) > Char > Char-Char > Charlatan

Tiger (tabby DSH) > Tiger-mao >Tigger > Tigro > The Tigro

Butterfinger (obese DSH) > Butters > Butter-mao > Butterbutt > Butt-mao > Fatass. LOL. Perhaps not the nicest of nicknames.

Mindy (Lab mix, RIP) > Min-min > Mindy-min > Minders > Mindy the Mauler

I have nicknames for our clinic cats: Peanut > Peanutty-Buddy and Coors > Coorses.

tajah -> taj -> tajamaroo (like winnie-the-pooh) -> roo -> roobear

RIP roo-bear

superman (because he stuck his front paws straight out like he was flying when he was being bottle fed; there's a great video...🙂 -> the little man -> manny -> manny-mo (like the Pep Boys, but no jack) -> mo -> variations thereof, such as mi-mo and my-mo (ie, jack and the beanstalk giant)

and a foster kitten from a long time ago...
tiger -> tigger -> "double ga-er"

Wilbur- Wilbs- Lurbs-> Blurps

Paige (italian greyhound) > Tiny P > Tiny > Tiny Ugly

Daiva (Pug) Fat> Fatty > Fatness > Pug

Imprint (horse) > Impy > Impsalot > Blimpy Impy (when she was pregnant) > Chubs > Gimpy (when she was lame)

Reina (horse, daughter of Impy) > Ina > Baby Horse > Ina Baby > Ina Butt

Casey= Case= Little Lady= Lou-Lou

Dusty= Bubbles= Bubba= Bubba Gump= Bub

Cottonball= Cotton= Cotty= Cot Cot

I also have a lot of random/weird names that I call my pets that I'm too ashamed to type out. 😀

Well, I didn't mention it, but we also call Legolas "Stink Ass" because he has a bad habit of releasing his anal glands.

fantastic thread 🙂

meow-meow>>meow-tonz>>tonzie>> tonzie-papoo (i wish there was a reason... but one of those things that just came out of my mouth and stuck)

macho man>>machito>> machito-banana

I can only hope I do not have any kids for fear of what names I might call them 🙂

Turner > Turner Burner > T > T-Dog > T-Diddy > T-Dizzle

Billy > Billy Fabulous > Fabuloso > Mr. Murr > Wedge

Chance > Chancie Banana/Chancie Falana > Lady Potato > Lady McDookers > Dookie > Chancie-Mop > Lightning Mop

Yardley > YC > YC Fabulous > Miss Mew > Miss Toot Toot

I usually stick my pets' names in some song where the sounds fit. Chloe eventually turned into just Oey, which turned into that one song by The Time:

"My jungle love (oh we oh we oh)"

So I call her Oh-e-oh-e-oh sometimes... and sometimes just O.

Slater -> Tater -> Tater Tot. I also call him the Taterator.

Vesper + annoying the crap out of us -> Bitchkitty. Sadly, this has stuck, and we still call her that quite a bit. Lol.

Kaiser: Booger (before I could think of his real name) -> Boogerface -> Boog-boog -> Baloo -> Crazy

But all still stick 🙂 He also tends to get a new name thrown at him every time he does something ******ed, which is often :laugh:

Oh man.

Miss Kitty (DSH, euthed 3 months ago due to CRF) -> Kittums -> Kittles -> Miki -> Kiki -> Mow-mow -> CAT

Samurai (Great Pyrenees) -> Sam -> Sambutt -> Samdog -> Doggles -> Dogbutt -> Samba

Zelos Wilder (corn snake) -> Z -> Snakeface -> Snakebutt (pattern here...) -> Jerko

These two I've only had for 3 weeks now so there hasn't been that much time:

Ridley (DSH, new kitten) -> Mr. Riddles

Nyx (DSH, new kitten) -> Nyxface -> Nyxi

Sonny (shepherd/Shiba Inu) > Small Dog (he's new and half the size of Sherman, and this is my name for him)

Hehe, doesn't Shiba Inu translate into Small dog? Kinda calling it by it's breed. I have a Beagle mix that I sometimes just call Beagle or My-Beagle-Dog.

Splat -> Splat-a-puss -> Splat-a-cat -> Splat-a-puppy -> Splish-Splat -> Splatacus -> Splatakins -> Split-Splat -> Cisplatin -> Cisplatin Splats Cats (hey, I'll be sure never to use cisplatin on cats now 🙂) -> Prince Cisplatin (kinda like Prince Caspian only ... better)

Patches -> Pitch-Patch -> Apache -> Peaches -> Panda -> Beagle-Dog -> Eeyore (she gets her moods)

Ginger -> Gin-Gin -> Ginger Snaps -> Gin -> Ginny -> Ginny the pooh -> pooh dog -> Ginger pooh

Mystic -> Mysticola -> Mystical-Dog

I have more, but their nicknames aren't much fun. Chia -> Cheese, Romper -> Puppy, Gemini -> Jiminy, Bailey -> Bells

Haha, this thread is awesome!

Duke (a chow chow): Duke --> Dukey --> Puppy --> Woosa-foose (don't ask b/c I don't know! My mom thought I'd say "Lucifer" :laugh:) --> Wooface --> Rooface --> Roo. He's 14, so I've had ample time to give him many nicknames! Everyone in my family has their own list, too! 😛

Earl Grey (a corn snake): Snakey --> Snakeyface --> Earl Grey --> Earl G --> Earl

We had a cat named "Ringo" and my mom successfully turned his name into "Ingy." We also have one names "Myles" and now Mom calles him "Mowser." Whatever.

We also had a cat that had a nickname turn into her real name - Kitay. She was mah first kitty. Died FeLV in 03' or so.

Thought I'd add my two to the fun...

Lucy (BCx) - came to us from rescue with the name "Lucky Lucinda" (omg what a mouthful for a 13wk old puppy!) -- Lucky Lucy -- Lucy -- LucyMoo -- Loosey Goosey -- Goose -- Moose -- Gee Whiz -- Gubbs (husband's contribution! no idea where it came from!!) -- GubbsMoo -- GubbsMutt -- and of course, Barkface (you would know why if you met her😀).

Monty (double merle partially deaf w/cerebellar hypoplasia BC) - Winston Merle Montgomery (we decided he needed a "proper" name to make up for all his physical deficits 😎) - MontyMoo - MontyMutt - Buttney - Buttnoo (I think he got the really silly names b/c it doesn't really matter what we call him, he can't usually hear us!)

Cotton boll [boxer/lab white]--> Cotton ball-->cotton--> stinky (you'd know why, if you knew him)-->old dude--> boyo (short for boy of mine) --> ddoogg (in a low menacing voice, when he's doing something naughty)

betta fish-->fishy [didn't have the heart to name him] (he lived over a year, when I just bought him because he looked like he was on death's door)🙄

Lily(shelter name)[beagle] -->Marguerite --> Maggie-->geegee-->gogo--> lil mama (she'd clean the babies)--> crazy --> houdini (an escape artist of course)-->poodini

Minkie > Minkie Dinkie > Minkie poop > Minkus > Minkus the Intelligent Cat
Nono > NONO > Cowcat > Dumb cow cat > Dumbo

Nono was such a pain in the butt. He got his head stuck in biscuit box and other dumb things like run in front of a moving car. He's a lucky cat though. He's never gotten injured except when Minkie scratches the lights out of him (Nono starts it though 🙁)

Minkie is such a smart cat and I feel so sorry for him sometimes. But I love my kitties anyway LOL

<-- For my rabbit

Ralph (adopted name)

Buster (changed name) > Buster-roo > Roo-Roo > Bloomer-roo > Goober-roo > Goober-bear > Boo-bear > Goober buns

He'll respond to most of them. It mostly how I say it that gets his attention. Doesn't seem to do much to Goober Buns. Can't say I blame him. Shame on me.

Tsukahara (Grey DSH) --> Tsuky --> Tsuka-buka --> Tsuka-buka-bukie --> Buka --> Bukers (Tsukahara [soo-ka-hara] is a gymnastics skill that I did for the first time on the same week that I got my cat)

Kipper (Black & White DLH) --> Mew --> Little Mew --> The Rare and Colorful Mew (as if she's a jungle cat on an animal planet special: "Look over there! We just caught a glimpse of a Rare and Colorful Mew. What a treat!" :laugh: We call her Mew because she doesn't meow, she "mews" in this cute little pathetic way and that's usually followed by her rolling onto her back and presenting her belly to all...how can you say no to such cuteness?)

Lucie (Vizsla) --> Lucie Goosie --> Goose --> Goose-Goose --> Goosers (and of course it's Lucifer when she's done something like grab food off of the counter 🙄)

Wow...I never thought any of those names were weird until I had to type them out in all their silliness!!! :laugh:

Beagle/Pit mix: Wally --> Wally Wallerson --> Polly Walbert -->The Baby --> Bubba --> Bubbalou

hehe

Aster (German Shepherd) -> Baby -> Asteroid -> Raz (she couldn't be Ast so it got an R in front of it) -> Razzle -> Razzle bear (my dad's) -> Razzy -> Rasta -> Big Dog

Bryce (German Shepherd) - not really old enough to have morphed into much (5 months) - but she has also been know as Pup-pup (before she had a name), and Love Pig. The explanation on love pig is that I was reading all kinds of lists of dog names and that was one of them which my roommates and I found hilarious enough to actually use 🙂

One of our seeing eye puppies was Pixie (GSD) -> Pixie Stick -> Sticky -> Ticky-ticky -> Stick

Jack (cat) > Jackalope > Jack and the beanstalk > Jack-in-the-pants > Monkeypants

Grey (Border Colllie) > The Border Collie (she's deaf so she doesn't care!)

Rusty (solid looking female golden x)--> Rustiferous --> Rusty do-nothing --> Rustiferous Do-Nothing --> Rustiferous P. Do-Nothing --> finally, ecause everyone kept asking how old "he" was Rustiferous Penelope Do-Nothing

Which is actually what her chart said at the vet.... Well, plus *lazyjayn lastname*, after the *3rd* new receptionist or tech tried to start her a new chart as a neutered male.

Ben (big doofy male golden)--> benjamina (with the J pronounced like an H)--> Mr. Puddlebutt --> Benjamina Puddlebutt --> benjamina p-uddly-butt --> doofus

Now I has Newton (mouse of gravity testing +2) --> Pig Newton --> Piggy Newton --> Mr. Stinky Bottom --> Newty-Poo

And for some reason, all male goldens that find their way to my mother's house end up being called Numb Nuts.

j.

Here are a few of mine :

Maya (lab mix) ---> My My ---> Scroggins (don't ask me how it started)---> Goat (she tries to eat everything) ---> Goatums

Finnigan (lab mix) ---> Finnie Binnie --> Finnie McBinnie ---> Binnie

Nefertiti (DSH) ---> TiTi ---> Teet Teet ---> Teeter Bell

Amun Ra (DSH) (even though shes a girl) ---> Ra ---> Ra Ra ---> Dirty Girl (shes a dirty orange tiger)

Francesca (DSH) ---> Frankie ---> Frank ---> Fat Frank ---> Frank the Tank

Persephone (DSH) ---> Percy ---> Perce ---> Football head ---> Stewie

Here's my two:

Sirius (border collie mix) --> Sneerius --> Sneery --> Rhesus --> Russ Pup

Madeline (new 12 wk. old cat)--> Maddy--> Madren

Great Thread!

My dutch rabbit: Lucy--> Lulu--> Lulu Bear
My helicopter lop: Finnigan --> Finner--> Finnerginner

2 of my cats
Mickey--> Mick--> Mickalous
Princess--> Little--> Little ones

Lets see...

Daphne (DSH, calico) - Daphers --> Daf-Daf --> Daffy (my mom calls her this, I can't do it myself) --> Evil Kitty --> Bitch Cat --> Satan --> and, on occasion Naphne (from when my now 10 year old nephew was learning to talk)

Gretchen (pit bull)- Gretch

Kaylie (pit bull) - usually just Kaylie, Kay on occasion

Since the dogs are from the same litter, I haven't really given them individual names, but frequently I will call them ladies, young ladies, bitches, slut bags (yes, I know, real nice, but when you see them belly up on the floor in front of a male dog...), my girlies, and occasionally wimps or wusses (seriously, they are terrified of trashbags).

Savannah (moms dog, pit bull) - mom calls her Savvy or Vannah, sometimes we call her Miss Anna (from when my youngest niece was learning to talk), and I always call her Munchkin (sure, she's a bit overweight now, but when we rescued her she was 5 weeks old and 2 pounds!)
