I've heard from various sources that having a night float system in residency is really important for keeping the hours reasonable. was then looking at the kaiser santa clara program where they state that their residents chose not to have the night float system and do a q4-7 call schedule so that they can then have more time for electives such as ultrasound, genetics, etc. How does this work? Which would you all prefer?
Also, does number of residents per hospital matter? In the programs in the Bay Area, most have 4 residents while ucsf has 7-8. it seems like that would very much affect call schedule, amount of work, etc. or does it somehow not matter much?!?!
