Hi,

Does anyone understand nuclear spin? What is this? Do only nuclei with an odd atomic number or odd mass number exhibit this? Why?

The first section gives a nice description. Basically you need an odd mass number (protons plus neutrons) or an odd charge (protons) for the molecule to exhibit NMR activity.
