Just wondering how many others are out there who are in this unfortunate position of sitting here in February with no acceptances. My situation is looking pretty bleak right now, as I've had just one interview back in November and have still yet to hear a word from them. I do have another interview coming up in a few weeks, and while I'm trying to stay optimistic, I'm also preparing myself for the worst case scenario and thinking about what to do if this med school thing doesn't work out.

I'll sit in on this club, I haven't even been to an interview yet. *heavy, heavy sigh*

Moskeeto-

you have an interview coming up at UCI, though, right? When is it? If you end up with one acceptance, how great would it be if it turned out to be a UC.

i'm not in yet 🙁, although i did just go to a couple of interviews that will decide my fate this month.

five interviews, 1 waitlist, no acceptance, 2 rejections, nothing from other 7, this waiting stinks... good luck to you guys

You're totally right, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up and count those chickens. But damn, that would be great, its my #1 choice. its a week from thursday on 2/13.

Moskeeto, good luck.

5 interviews here and no acceptances yet. No rejections from any of those schools yet, so that's good, but the waiting sucks.

I haven't gotten any acceptances either....... will be very very very EXCITED when I get one.... BUT I haven't, so I'm not. --sigh-😡

Count me in. 2 interviews, 3 rejections pre-interview, no word at all from 4 others.... I'm getting nervous!

I too have no acceptances. I have been to 12 interviews, and have my last one next week. So far 3 waitlists and 1 post-interview rejection. I have alot of anxiety and I hope that all this effort will eventually lead to an acceptance.

yeah i am with you, i have had 3 interviews and one yet to come and no acceptances yet, and i still havent heard from 7 schools, what is that ?????

5 Interviews for me and one waitlist

I've had 5 interviews within the past 2-3 mths and ...well, I'm pretty much in the same boat as you guys.

5 interviews . . . 3 waitlists . . . waiting to hear from one more . . . 1 rejection . . . . 1 more interview left in april . . . . this blows guys

I've had 2 interviews... no word yet from either.
2 interviews coming up in the next week and a half.
I hate the waiting part more than anything.

Keep your fingers crossed!

what would u all do if you found out u got in . . . . after all this waiting and waitlisting, etc?

5 interviews so far...5 more to go...1 waitlist. No accepts.

i just had an interview...and won't hear anything till march 26...and another in march....but THAT's IT.....
ever since mid-jan....i've heard NOTHING from aroudn 10 schools.....its as if my application is not there anymore.....
so i'm pretty down too 🙁

No acceptances yet. 4 interviews

GW (Wait list)
U. of Chicago (Wait list)
Univ. of Arizona (Still waiting to hear back)
Boston U (Still waiting to hear back)

Good luck to everyone.

5 interviews here...3 waitlists and still waiting to hear back from 2 and 8 other schools that i havent heard a peep from.

Still acceptanceless... *groan*

How's everyone else holding up?

ugh. 3 interviews - 1 waitlist - waiting to hear from other 2 - 3 more schools still waiting to hear from (2 i'm "on hold" for interview (UC's). also august mcater. going thru periods of extreme anxiety to "whatever. i don't care." right now in "whatever" mode.

Where do I sign?

1 interview (obligatory due to state residency)
0 acceptances
and more rejections than I can count on my two hands
and to top everything off, I've spent upwards of $2000 just on apps alone

God, this is depressing.

OK...here it goes, this will help me release:

2 interviews (USC, UCLA)
1 hold
4 waiting to hear
? rejections...too many for me to come clean with...

I keep telling myself that it only takes one interview and one acceptance...but i want more!

How do I cope you ask...booze and sadistically checking my status pages.

Yeah, that Ralph is way fuzzy. I didn't even recognize that it was Ralph until you mentioned it. I'll keep my eye out for a cleaner Ralph avatar, and I'll send it to you if I come across one.

Way back when I first signed up for SDN my handle was actually "tastes like burning", and a few people recognized it and got a kick out of it. However, I think most people had no idea what it referred to and were just thoroughly confused by it. By the way, this was back when you could change you SDN name whenever you wanted.

So how did the UCLA interview go? How long ago was it and when do you expect to hear back? I'm interviewing there next week and the whole day seems incredibly unstructured and poorly planned. On the cover page it says: "We are also currently in the process of arranging an informal interview with a medical student and/or a tour of the medical facilities." Huh?!? "and/or"??

UCLAMAN --

Sorry to hear about the Wake Forest waitlist. It's all good, though...you still have a bunch of schools to hear back from. And let's keep our fingers crossed for Northwestern. Let's see...just 4 weeks before we find out what they really thought of us. You know what to do until then:

hehe...i always read about how so many physicians were alchies(sp?)...apparently it starts during the app process....and judging from what I saw last week it just keeps on going from there.

I need some friends. . .

0 acceptances
0 wait lists
1 interview (Utah) and 2 more coming up (Wash U., Drexel)
1 rejection (no interview -- Rochester)

7 with NO REPLY since I sent my secondaries.

Yikes.

this is the first club i really really really want to get out of ...........

Hey, at least the life-time membership is relatively cheap. I can't wait to get mine.

My interview was Feb 6th, and they said don't worry if you don't hear "for a while"...guess they are taking a ride on the slacker train...
I felt the same way about the letter when i got it. This is the strange part...I did get one of the "informal interview(s) with a medical student" but only two applicants, out of the 10 that were there that day, had this student interview. And even worse, i found the student interview very negative. I am not kidding when i say it was only 15 minutes, and she only asked me like 2 questions.(all other interviews i had were 1.5-2 hours long...i'm kind-of a chatterbox i guess) It wasn't negative, as in she didn't like me, it just seemed like she wanted to beat traffic or something, and i was her last interview of the day. (but in reality she couldn't have had that many because like i said only 2 people interviewed with her) Bottom line was that if you don't get this student interview, don't worry about it.
On a side note, my faculty interview went great, and I got really positive vibes. UCLA is a fabulous school, and it sells itself. Because of that i don't feel like the students felt the need to tell you why you should go there. They know that if you get the chance UCLA is the place to go.
Don't worry about your interview, though, it is a laid back and relaxed day. Once you get to the school, all will be revealed. Get there a little early and check out the school for yourself...especially if you have never been to UCLA...it is a complex!
Have fun, and good luck...i'm sure you will be great, and will soon be out of this club for good.

second that about the ucla interview. my faculty interviewer made a strong point of telling me that ucla takes a looooong time to get back to you and to not think otherwise if you didn't hear from them. my letter didn't state anything about an informal interview with a med student that i can remember, but i did get a tour of the faciltiies (which honestly wasn't much), and no one that day did interview with a student (there were only 5 of us maybe?) to be honest, it is one of the most unstructured interviews i went to. i think they know they're ucla and don't need to sell it much. the interview IS relaxed, though.. just really know yourself and your impetus for everything you've done (i.e. what you wrote on amcas and 2ndary and be able to answer why you wrote that). best of luck!

When I spoke to Carrol Cohen (or it may have been someone else in the admissions office) the other day I was told that it would take 8 weeks to process your application from the time you interview? Were you guys told anything like this? I'm hoping that since it's now getting towards the end of the interview season that there will be a faster turnaround.

On the tour do you get a chance to see the lecture halls, anatomy lab, hospital, etc? I really wish they had a more formal introduction to the school where we could ask questions about the school and its curriculum.

one interview at UW. UW status page says should recieve final decision letter by today...at this rate I wont have any fingers next week, let alone fingernails...

good luck on that, hopefully you'll be out of the club soon.
