Absolutely! I can even appoint you to an office, if you'd like. How does treasurer sound? Wait, vice-president...yeah, that will look better on your resume. 😀

Seriously, though, don't count yourself out yet. Make sure you blow those interviewers away at your upcoming interview. Is it coming up soon? I'm getting pretty panicky too, but I just remind myself that I still have a school to hear back from, and 2 interviews coming up.

We'll get through this.

i hate this process... i hate this process... i hate this process.....
god, i hate this process so much.....

damn it, i hate this process so much.......... hate it hate it hate it, going bankrupt....hate it hate it hate it, losing sanity, hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it, tired of traveling, hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it, why am i still where i was months ago? hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it, don't even have enough money to buy a tv to watch simpsons... missed so many episodes.... god, i hate this process, i hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it, oh how i HATE it.....

<b>[edited 3/17/03] finally.... out of the club last week. I didn't get in anywhere when I applied last year, but I guess this year my luck has been different. Good luck to everyone; I know how painful and annoying this whole thing is, but if you try to be patient and try to be as confident about yourself as possible, good news should come nevertheless.</b>

Same here. Just taking a break from lying in ambush for the postal carrier to catch up on SDN. May the Force be with us!

Ronin, my tremendous powers of deduction tell me that you are in some way displeased with the way this application cycle has gone so far for you.

But 10 interviews under your belt?! C'mon, dude...you'll be fine. I bet you come out of this thing with multiple acceptances. Be sure to let us know when you get your first.

Do you think it's a bad idea to call up a school and ask them what I could do to improve my chances of getting accepted after being placed on a waitlist?

Interviewed at Upstate and Downstate.
Going to interviews at Mount Sinai and Albert Einstein.
Haven't heard from Temple.
Rejection from Stanford and Cornell.
No acceptances........

No, this is actually a very good idea, ricegeek. Do you know if their waitlist is ranked or not? Regardless, though, you will certainly improve your chances of coming off of a waitlist if you continue to express interest in the school. For example, at Northwestern they keep a record of everytime you call, e-mail, or send a letter to the school and this all goes into your file. When they're determining who to take off the waitlist they look to see who has demonstrated the most interest in the school and therefore who would be most likely to attend when taken off.

At most schools you will optimize your chances of getting in by writing a 'letter of intent', stating that you will go to that school if accepted, but only do this if you are certain that you really will attend the school. Good luck!

I guess I'll join this club...still waiting. Had my last interview at the beginning of Feb. Rejected from 6, interviewed at 5. 7 schools who just took my money and ran, or so it seems. BUT dont lose hope cause it ain't over til its over, RIGHT?? Until then I remain here in the "no acceptance club" trying to be patient. Any suggestions on how to pass the time? =) I guess I could write update/i-love-your-school letters!
Good Luck to us ALL!!

Hey ya'll,

Interviewed at 5 places so far . . . . waitlisted at freaking 4 of them. One more interview at Drexel in April . . . . hey e-spin, how do u like Philly? Good city? Any input on how the whole admissions process runs at Drexel? I mean, seriously, interviewing in April do I really have a chance of getting in? Will I EVER get in? EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR??? Or will I be eternally filling out apps and interviewing and filling out apps and interviewing and . . . . Anyways, BEST WISHES TO ALL.

-Buttercup

Hey Buttercup, yeah I interviewed at Drexel...they told us 8 wks to get a response but it only took them about 3-4 wks to let me know I was WAITLISTED...sigh. Anyway, Drexel was very low stress the students seemed nice...pretty much whatever has been said on the Interview Feedback held true. Drexel Med is NOT in Center City, but in a place called East Falls...still Philly address I think.
I am a Michigan transplant, been in Philly about 4 yrs and like it a lot. Surprisingly it is the 5th largest city or something in the US, though it doesnt feel like it. Plenty to see and do, lots of great restaurants...Good luck at Drexel!!! =)

When I spoke to Carrol Cohen (or it may have been someone else in the admissions office) the other day I was told that it would take 8 weeks to process your application from the time you interview? Were you guys told anything like this?

On the tour do you get a chance to see the lecture halls, anatomy lab, hospital, etc? I really wish they had a more formal introduction to the school where we could ask questions about the school and its curriculum.

i think it takes 6 - 10 wks to hear if you're accpeted. some other sdners who interviewed in late jan. got their acceptances already in the last acceptance batch that went out last week. on my tour, they tried to show us the anatomy lab, but it was locked, and none of the students' keys worked!!! it really is a very informal tour and lasted at most 20 min. i thought it was ok when i went, but later i went to another school's tour that was much more formalized, and i realized what a difference it was. a couple of the students i had lunch with were waitlisted before getting in.. they interviewed in jan. and didn't hear anything until may so i think if you're waitlisted or rejected you'll wait longer than if you're accepted. good luck good luck good luck!

hi everybody....well you can add me to this club🙁

Welcome, lilnix!

However, keep in mind that we are trying to keep membership here as low as possible. So you must notify us as soon as you get accepted somewhere. Those are the rules...

i thought we also had a rule against people with sponge-bob avitars being in the club . 😛

lol, well i've never been one to follow rules anyway😀

Hey guys, i am unfortunately a member of this club too.

I have had 4 interviews, I am waitlisted on one and am still waiting to hear from the others. Not to mentioned that there are still 6 school i havent heard from, so at this point i am just considering those rejections.

Good Luck to everyone, hopefully the next month or so will bring some good news.

Any members exiting this club lately? It's been pretty quiet. I am still waiting to give my official resignation of the post. My letter from UCLA is on the way, but we shall see...

ho hum... i'm still here 🙁 it looks like i'll be here for a while since i don't expect to hear back from schools anytime soon.

yeah, my seat isn't going empty anytime soon either, hopefully everyone else is having some luck.

C'mon, I'm sure at least one person who has posted on this thread has been accepted somewhere. As for me, I'm looking at a possible lifetime membership.

damn, i was hoping I'd have a chance to be president of something.

I'm sure you'll bet in somewhere cipher, don't you have a ton of schools where the jury is still out?

moskeeto--

I still have 3 schools to hear back from post-interview. I think a "ton" might be a little too grandiose a term to describe 3 schools, but I'm holding out hope that one of them will come through. I should be hearing back from one of them (Northwestern) next week As for the other two, I have an indefinite period of waiting ahead of me.

Oh, and I think Sweet Tea is next in line for presidency of our exclusive club, being appointed V.P. and all. Are you good with money? How does CFO sound. We're in desparate need of one of those right now.

Welcome to the club, Hawaiian. Don't forget to wipe your feet on the way in.

I think you answered you're own question, if I think 3 is a ton, then I'm probably not too good with money. Give me 5 bucks and I get excited thinking about what car I can go out and buy. maybe I could be the secretary or, hmm, do we have anybody in charge of making name tags, I'm good at that kind of stuff.

I thought you had more than 3 yet to hear from, its so damn hard to remember everyone elses stuff! I'll keep my fingers crossed for the Northwestern news.

Yeah, it doesn't sound like finances is really your thing. So you'll be our V.P. in charge of name tags. I'll start searching for an assistant to help you out with your new duties.

Since Moskeeto doesn't want to be CFO, can I? I'm still in the club, and am also still waiting to hear from 3 schools post-interview. Still have one interview to attend, stinking slow OHSU!! I don't think that 3 schools is a lot to be waiting on, and I don't get excited abouty 5 bucks (oh wait yes I do). Anyway, I'm still in the club, but lookinbg for leadership positions to add to AMCAS app. 😀 😀 😀

umm...totally uncool dude 🙄

as tempting as it is steve, you have to try very, very hard not to respond to trolls. it makes them happy and everytime they hurt someone's feelings or piss someone off they grow a new wart or other hairy obtrusion that they can parade around and show off to their goblin, zombie or other troll like friends. its not necesarrily a bad thing, i mean its nice showing something off that distracts you from the deep emptiness within, but you know, I don't think we should go around rewarding they're bitter, insecure, "look-at-me", not really appreciated around here, attitudes.
but don't listen to me tho, i'm usually wrong about most things and hell I'll probably end up cracking people's backs for the rest of my life.

on a pleasent side note, i was at a bar this weekend and my gf mentioned to a med student she knows that I was applying to med school and they guy kinda looked me up and down and said, "you should really think about going to an osteopathic school." i like people, i really do, but its hard when everyone else is better than me, it makes it difficult to sleep at night and to get out of bed in the morning.

Reality Check4u,

Karma's a bitch. hopefully you get what you deserve out of life...a forearm shiver! Grow up you puke. hope someone puts you in your place real quick. best of luck on your boards with your crap attitude and even better luck in clinicals when you're getting your ass kicked.

your daddy

That Reality guys comments were unnecessary and hurtful. I didn't like them. I think that all of us have shown drive, dedication and commitment - and while I am still a member of this club, I think I have got a shot at my last two decisions and getting of some waitlists. And I think that the rest of you guys do too. And if I don't I will re-apply - and again, I know that you guys will as well. And I agree with mosq. every reply to a post liek that makes them grow a new protuberance (LMAO).

I support you guys (through my internet ESP) and maybe today will be the day that the letter comes.

Hey,

Chin up guys. I know it's hard, I've been there--twice. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't chase your dream and make it. Know everyone gets a fair chance, and if not the first time around there's always a second chance. And don't ever think this process is a judge of your character, because not all doctors are good people and not all good people are doctors. Meanwhile, I suggest finding something to do that you like to keep your mind occupied... sports, reading, learning a language, whatever. I have some good books I can suggest! 🙂

Do you actually think you have us convinced that you are actually IN medical school? The only boards you're gonna be around is when you're cleaning the black & white ones at med schools--and that is, if you were lucky enough to be hired as the med school janitor.

Please, learn to have some respect not just for your peers but even those under you. A little humanity (even a janitor or garbage collector would have what you don't seem to present as a so-called educated physician) can go a long way. And if you don't seem to understand the "nice" request I have made to you, you may understand a harsher language of a whip across your a@@ with the logo saying "BANNED FROM SDN."

And to the others: don't feed the trolls. They are just here to make up for the lack of attention and solidarity which they don't get from their peers.

PS: Also, please note that abusive vocab is not permitted on SDN. Thanks.

uc davis kicked me out of the club on saturday, this was after teri hall emailed me telling me that my file won't be decided until the interviews are finished, now I am afraid that they made a mistake or somethiing, in any case, this is my first one ...
good luck to you guys.

hey thanks alot jackass, way to come in here and rub it in our faces that you got in somewhere🙄

j/k   Congrats on getting into such a good school. Its great that your only acceptence is from a UC. that rocks. heres hoping that some others will be joining you shortly.

yay for qdefiant!! 🙂
glad to hear some peopl have made it out of this club!
and uc davis???!!! oh, i'm so jealous...

congratulations qdefiant!!! i hope i'll join you soon...by with all the late interviews i have, i probably won't know much until the summertime....oh well, might as well enjoy this little bit of warmer weather before the war....

yay for qdefiant! only fitting that i officially join this club as qdefiant is leaving. fitting, yet depressing... i have faith in all of us though! here's to having the numbers of this club dwindle every day.

Congrats qdefiant! Now, if only the rest of us could get out of this club!

don't give up yet guys....there is still time to get an acceptance. just try to stay positive and don't give up.....it will happen........good luck with interviews and eventual acceptances......i wish all of you the best...

Now here's a club that'll accept me...

Still haven't heard. I'll probably hear in a couple weeks from UW. I interviewed in January and am on "hold".

Good luck everybody!

Is there room for one more in the club?

3 interviews (all obligatory: state schools & undergrad univ)
1 wait list, 1 "hold", 1 no response yet

And 7 other schools that just ran with my money.

My fav rejection letters so far: From Georgetown 3 days after I sent in my secondary in Sept "After a thorough and complete review of your app, we are unable to offer you a seat" -- how much consideration can they give if your rejection is sent out the same day they receive your app?

And in Tufts' letter of rej ".. we are unable to respond to inquiries for particular comm decisions.... If you are not able to get in elsewhere, we regret that we are unable to provide counseling services" (translation: get lost)

Let me wish you all the best of luck. I would much, much rather be an M1 with you all than with the posters whining about having to decide among multiple acceptances and FA packages. Please ... I'll go anywhere that I get into and I will gladly take out loans and pay full tuition.

Shayla, you're certainly welcome to join the club. In fact, the more the merrier. It's so difficult to be in this situation, sitting here in late March and contemplating what you'll do if you don't get accepted this year. It is comforting, however, to know that you're not alone, and that many, many others are in the same position. There are a lot of SDNers who have posted on this thread telling us about their situation, but based on the number of 'views' this thread has received, I'm assuming that there are a significant number of lurkers out there who are also crossing their fingers, waiting for their first acceptance. By the way, I really encourage lurkers to post here so we can congratulate you when/if you eventually do receive that acceptance. I'm assuming mine must have just gotten lost in the mail somewhere, but as soon as it surfaces I'll be sure to let you all know.

I've been trying so hard to avoid doing this, I don't know if I'm just crazy or in denile or what, but I for some reason can't get myself to seriously sit down and make a plan for next year. I don't even know where I'll be living if I don't get it. I'm letting my lease expire and I haven't started applying for a job or grad school, AHHHHHH, i've got to get it together.

on a side note, is there anyone here that thinks they won't apply again next year if they don't get in this year? maybe I should make that its own thread.

Still here - three waitlists now
