Thanks everyone!
Nefertari- I did have new LOR's, took a couple new classes, improved my essay, and applied to more schools (didn't even apply farther than the west coast the first two years because I was a naive idiot, and thought I could get into my state school in Hawaii without trouble). Didn't feel the need to retake the MCAT with a 34, but my GPA (3.19) was probably the biggest factor in it taking three tries to get in.
Now that it's over, I'm actually glad it happened like this. The first year I didn't get in, it gave me a chance to work another year as a ski patroller and EMT up in the SoCal mountains, which was one of the greatest experiences of my life. The second year I didn't get in, it gave me a year to come live in San Francisco with my girlfriend, and since we'd been doing the long distance thing, it really helped in maintaining our relationship (esp with four more years of LDR ahead). It also gave me a chance to find what I'm now sure is the right school for me.
Kinda makes you think- everything happens for a reason. More and more, I'm starting to believe that.
NAYers- don't give up. There's still another couple months of waitlist movement season, and I'm hoping that everyone will be evicted from this club soon! May 15 is a week away...
