it's a bit surreal that this day is finally here, no?

i've read through these posts and want to compliment all of you on how supportive you've been to one another!!
it gives me the warm fuzzies! 😀

just an FYI for those curious: i'm on 3 WLs (Albany Med, MCO, UMich)--seems like 2/3 are moving...

Sure cocoabutter...my list is Drexel, Mich St., Wayne State, Upstate, and EVMS. I have posts on movement on all but Upstate...although it could be moving but Upstate threads in general dont get a lot of attention so we might not know.
Anyway. the wait goes on.

Well, I'm turning in my membership. I got the call from Wake Forest. This thread has given me so much hope over the past few months, so thank you all.

SweetTea, Cocoabutter, Cipher, e-spin, MichiMo and everyone else still waiting - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Keep writing your schools. Good things will happen, just hang in there a little while longer.

sweet tea is on vacation. she got waitlisted at ECU. she'll be back shortly. 😀

Congradulations ShaylaFinn!!!!! It must be so exciting! And it is really good to see people get out. There really are only a few of us left and I have warm fuzzies that it will happen. Just a little bit longer.

My good news, I found out that as of Wed. only 5 more people had to drop before I was in. I think all waitlists should be ranked. It does wonders for your sanity. (except for when you convince yourself that they will get to the number right before you and not get to you because that is the way your life ALWAYS works)
My other waitlist is not ranked and I just almost don't even think about it, except for the daily trip to the mailbox, because an acceptance just feels so illusive when I am just in this "Acceptance Range." What the **** does that mean? They should just say "We have filled our class, but in the event that one of them does not come, we will grab an application out of this big old pile, just like fishing a number out of the bag, and maybe you will be lucky enough to have your's picked!!!!" Hot diggity dog! Now I am excited!

Sorry for the little rant. Feeling crazy today.

That is good news MichiMO. the probability of 5 people dropping between now and the end of july I am sure is very high! 🙂

The worst ones are the ranked lists at schools that wont tell you where you are on the list!!!!! Ahhhhh....it's like "Haha (think Nelson from the Simpsons) we know, but we wont tell you!!!"

anyway, I think we are all due for some good news!!!

Hang in there everyone! The waitlists should start moving in earnest next week-- Schools are still looking at where they stand after the May 15th deadline.

Really? There are schools that do that?

That is just mean!!!! How would it hurt them to let you know where you were? I would think that it would work to their advantage. Keep people interested.

So, my outrage at the process has just increased a notch. Someday we will have our revenge Haha!!!!
 
Its because they don't want you to count your chickens. 2 years ago at Davis, a girl knew she was #1 on the waitlist and turned down a USC acceptance only to not get into to Davis off the waitlist. She didn't get in anywhere that year. also, maybe they don't want people calling every 20 minutes to see if they've moved up. But yeah, i'd rather know than not know.
 
congrats on the news!! i think it's awesome that the school told you your sitch on the WL! just out of curiosity, are you waiting on? (i'll have to remember to apply there if nothing works out this year!! 🙂

i think it's actually more likely that a school will NOT tell you placement on the list, but merely give you a general idea.... that's my experience anyway... it's cruel, if you ask me!

Oh yeah, that sucks....*if* I had an acceptance in hand I dont think I would turn it down even if I was the #1 WLee at my #1 school though...I wish they'd let me count my chickens :laugh:

It is my state school, UofArizona.

Unfortunatly you have to be a resident to apply...well, fortunatly for me...it gives the school one of the highest acceptance rates in the country...only 400-500 apply.
I do feel very fortunate, sometimes undeserving when I see all these people from Cali. or NY who have to apply to 20+ schools because there are so many state schools that are so competitive and also when I see everyone who has had to apply so many times.

But, guess I shouldn't feel too fortunate yet. No chick counting here!!! (well, maybe a little bit 😀 )
 
you know what? Now that I think about it...Upstate does some f-ed up stuff. First the 2nd visit day invite to this poor WLee...AND they wont tell me where I am on their ranked HIGH PRIORITY List!!! talk about mixed signals! If this were a relationship with a guy, I wouldve kicked him to the curb already!!!!
But, alas, I would give my left little toe to get an acceptance from them!!! :laugh: :laugh: And so I wait.

Hopefully, an Upstate adcom doesnt see this and call me out on that toe comment 😉

Aww...so sweet y'all were thinking of me! Yup, I'm still on a much-needed vacation (visiting the boy-- yay!!), and I was waitlisted at ECU. Which means I waited 8 months to find out I was waiting. Ah well...I've written letters and will be moving into the admissions office at ECU as soon as I'm back in NC!

BIG CONGRATS TO EVERYONE THAT GOT KICKED OUT OF THIS CLUB!!! :clap:😀:clap:😀

MichiMo, when I saw this post, I thought that you had gotten the call from Arizona. I was all set to be super excited for you! Oh, well. I will save the excitement for later.

No, no call yet. On Friday there was only two more people to go though. So, needless to say, I jump every time I hear the phone ring. This morning, my roommate's mom called from Korea, so there was a long-distance ring (I am not sure if anyone else's phone does this, but mine has a different ring for long distance) and I awoke to it out of sound sleep and almost ripped a legiment jumping for the phone :laugh:


Oh, I've become such a loon.
 
Ah. Another week of heart stopping phone rings and mail carrier stalking!! Such is the life of a NAY-er!!!

The bright side: we are entering prime you-are-off-the-waitlist- calls/letter territory I think. We've waited this long, whats another few weeks, right? 😉

Anyway, keep your chin up, campers!!!

Just sent another intent letter to BU. As for the other places I'm waitlisted at, I'll probably write them as well.

Anyone know if there has been any waitlist movement for Tufts or NJMS? oh, and does Tufts give away rank #s??

Tufts has moved a little bit, and they do not rank their list. They say their major movement takes place June and early July.

A SDN lurker, and former co-worker of mine, just got in to USUHS off the waitlist!!!!!!!! Not only does she get to go to med school, but she gets to quit that stinkin' job!!!!!

Well, after days of counting down, I finally get to do it:

I must withdraw my membership from this club since, this morning, I found out I was accepted to the University of Arizona!!!!!!!!!

Hang in there everyone. Good things can happen. Early in this process, I had myself basically convinced that I would never be accepted and just look.

It's funny that these are back-to-back posts, but I'm afraid that I have to leave the club. I just got off the phone with the University of Iowa and my acceptance was sent yesterday.

Thank you all for your support through this arduous period of waiting. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting. I certainly think that the waiting makes this even sweeter.

Yay! I forgot I am now eligible to join this club. I had my first interview at Upstate on April 23 (I'd been waiting for something positive since last July) and found a week and a half ago that I am on the high priority list. Congrats to everyone who has gotten in so far and good luck to everyone who is on a waitlist! This has been such a long, disappointing process, but in the end it will be worth it when we get in. 🙂

Seeing so many accepted is great, but it makes me anxious.

I know the feeling. Someone I know told me that they were in line at Wal-Mart last night and overheard someone talking about how somebody got called from a medical school yesterday about getting off the waitlist (don't know which school).

I have yet to hear anything and with each passing day, I wonder if it is really going to happen or not. I keep trying to console myself with the fact that is only May 20th and these schools do need to go through their waitlist and see what they have open and who they want.
