No idea where to do residency... help.

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This was several/many years ago, but St. John's in Detroit had third years doing 20 12s. Also, I think Newark-BI was 20x12 for third years.
Yeah, I am a current resident at St John, and senior residents do 17 9 or 10 hour shifts per calendar month, and 2nd years do 19 per calendar month. Not sure when it changed but no one I have talked to ever mentioned doing that many shifts.

I interviewed there, what, 16 years ago now. Things are looking up!!

20 12’s? As a 3rd year?!! My goodness. My pgy1s work 20 9’s. Thats 60 less hours a month. No way would I want to end up at a program with 20 12s as a PGy1, let alone a PGY3.
But 20 x 12 is the top end of the clinical hours allowed by the RRC.

I know. Doesn’t mean I’d want to work the maximum number of allowable hours. There’s more to residency than just clinical work.
Oh, no argument there, dude.

And, you know what? I'm about 100 miles due north of you right now!
