I cannot believe it, i think i chose the wrong year to apply for residency in EM, 42 apps sent out, 12 rejections so far and no invites. Any IMG's out there getting any love? I have a 78, 99, pass and ecfmg certification and still no invites, it can't be that bad. Please someone, tell me it isn't.😳

Sorry bro, that sucks. Good luck and hope more roll in!:luck:

I think the 78 is the killer. Which med school did you graduate from? Visa problems? Need more info to help you.

😕 More what? rejections?, i hope at least one rolls in, feel like a complete dud, i worked my gluteus off for step 2...

I guess it did sound like I was wishing you more rejections. No, I was actually wishing you interviews (certainly not clear from my post, sorry). Well, good luck getting INTERVIEWS, I hope they roll in. 👍

I'm an IMG w/ 90+'s on both steps, CS passed. I have 26 rejections at this point. But I also have 4 invites. In IM I have 6 invites and *ZERO* rejections.

Probably should have applied to IM as well instead of EM and Pathology, it's just that i hate ward work, i like the fast paced ER. I am a hopeful man though and i say it isn't over until scramble day comes along.

I've gotten an email from a Florida program saying that they got 600 apps for 6 spots and will interview 120 people. But guess what - when all those american grads with 10+ interviews start cancelling (or rather just not showing up) a lot pf programs might end up unfilled.

I Got a similar email yesterday as well from a school in the southern section of florida..😉 I am wondering if it IS true that 120 persons could be interviewed for only 6 spots, what is the point? Isn't that overkill? and a waste of 114 persons time and money?, i am so sorry but if i were one of the 120 persons i would not like those odds. Gimme a program that interviews say 20 persons for 12 spots anyday 🙂

Sorry about your string of bad luck with interviews so far......however, you generally won't find any programs that interviews less than 10 applicants per spot. My program is interviewing 120 for 10 spots. that's pretty standard.

good luck

10-20 people per spot because each person on average has 10 interviews.

But if you look at 2006 stats and count both US students and IMG's there's actually about 1.1 actual applicants per EM spot, its just that some compettetive us students overdo the apps, so theres none left for us imgs.

Well i am still hoping for an interview, everyday i check my email every hour, think i may developing a compulsion, i need some SSRI's man.

You guys keep your heads up...there is still time.

Sorry, guys. You're making me feel guilty. I'm one of the US grads with plenty of interviews. Having a hard time making decisions without visits and cancelling them. I promise I'm working hard to narrowing down the list and will be cancelling more early this week so I don't tie up too many spots for others. Thanks for reminding me how this impacts others.

Sorry for the guilt trip bud...😳

dkp, I hope you've received some good news over the past week. Hopefully with the cancellations etc, some spots may have opened up.

If not...I'd say to send out an email of interest to some of the programs. Or better yet, call them. It would seem your step 1 score is what is killing you...but let them know about your step 2 score! That's an impressive improvement!

btw, how are you ecfmg certified? don't you need a medical diploma to be certified? unless of course you already are a doc..

Keep your head up. Pretty soon interview spots will start opening up as other applicants start cancelling their interviews. You will be amazed at how many invites are sent out in late November & December.
Good luck🙂

Already ECFMG certified and have been a doc for the last 4 years, it must be my step score but i more than made up for it with step 2. I have not gotten any interviews yet but my head is still held high, what else can i do. Taking step 3 in february. Thanks for the support though.🙂
