Hi first time member on the SDN network, and was worried about my chances of getting into school. So far I have not received any interviews and I'm starting to get worried. I signed up for more classes in the spring in case I don't get in. But was wondering, what everyone thinks about my stats, and if there are any big red flags.

You said UoP twice...

Questions I have so far:
What's your state of residency?
Did you get application complete emails from these schools?
How are your LORs?
How is your PS?

Your stats are good. DAT score is pretty solid across the board, but I would call and ask the schools if they have a cutoff for the RC section. From my understanding, UNLV heavily favors the RC section (part of their acceptance formula). If you haven't heard back from any other schools yet, you have a shot at some post-December interviews.

Thanks for the fast replies! @artist2022 Ca resident, yes I did! and some sent under review emails too. LOR: 2 science professors and 2 dentists. As for my PS, I had worked on it for months and had it proofread multiple times by someone who helps others on this kind of stuff. My family thought it was good overall as well. But I guess I wouldn't know what adcoms think.
@Sweettooth326 Yeah I was thinking about calling them and asking about any big red flags on my application. The RC is definitely something I've been worrying about and have been debating if I should retake the DAT. I hope so! Waiting for news is so tedious D:

Well you applied to some pretty competitive state schools, so I wouldn't keep hoping on them too much. I think you should just try your best to sit tight and continue volunteering/shadowing/working and updating these schools. Good luck!

You may need to submit an additional science professor LOR to Rutgers. I e-mailed them regarding their requirements, and they told me to send that third science LOR.

a 17 is not a bad score
the only school that you probably didn't have a shot at is UT Houston, because the texas schools very rarely take out of state
you still have a shot at interviews, just make the most of them
but you should probably still sign up for spring classes

Yeah! I initially got an e-mail from Indiana saying that I was missing one since they also require 3 science LOR, so I decided to double check my other schools’ requirements for that. Rutgers was one of them!

I would add more private schools! I just added one yesterday. What you gonna lose, 200 dollars? Better than 5000 dollars.

Your parents must be rich

I am anything but rich, I just don't want to lose another year.

I already lost a year, which was last year.

Plus, losing a year = losing around 70-100 k from your future earing if you decide to be a general dentist.

& do you know how hard to answer the question of what changed this year if you apply again?
Pretty hard and they want to see something new that you did. So, if someone still has a chance, he or she should apply to more schools because it's better than losing more money and a lot of time the next year.

Life is not all about the money though. Losing 70-100k from your “future” is trivial if you think about it. Having extra 70-100k in my bank wouldn’t be a deal breaker when I’m 60 years old, and it wouldn’t matter in a long run. Plus, we don’t know how many years we’re gonna live.

So, are you a reapplicant then? I thought your stats were high?

Yeah, I don't care for money either, but I am tired of sitting around. I want to start school already.

I applied last year without taking the DAT ( a very silly move) then a lot of family health-related issues occurred and I had to just stop studying for the dat altogether and be there when my family needed me.

What is the rule on calling dental schools? I remember that after applying, having read that the schools will be busy and don't want applicants calling. I've heard others recommend calling the dental schools and feel confused by conflicting information. I'm mainly afraid that if I call, that I'll do what they asked applicants not to do and get put on a "naughty list".
