I'm just curious if I'm the only one that hasn't heard from med schools. All I have gotten are rejection letters from Nevada, Minnesota, and UW. I have yet to hear from 3 more schools. So far very depressing. Does any recommend applying to med schools this late? I'm thinking of applying to Boston.

the next thing: it depends on where u applied and when too. so if u only applied recently...

and a few rejections shouldnt be too worrying as long as u applied broadly and to quite a good number of schools!

Applied to about 12 schools all over the place. Got also rejected from UC Davis (had no chance there anyways). I have not heard anything positive yet only that Arizona is still considering me and haven't heard from my top two choices OHSU and Colorado. Really depressed right now.

I applied to ~25 schools and I just received my first interview last week (4-5 rejections and 2 holds). Stick in there.

I don't know what your stats are like, so I can't comment too well on your status.

But I can tell you that you would have hard time with state schools that are not in your state of residence.

Unless you are a very competitive applicant, it is very difficult to get into other state schools since the state schools favor in-state students over out-of-state students.

Best bet other than your own state school is to apply at private instutions, which do not have any favor in state of residency.

Yeah found that out the hard way. Totally regretting this application cycle as I know I should have applied earlier and to more private institutions. I think Creighton is one of the few private institutions I applied to.

Just hang in there. All it takes is one acceptance.

Yeah I figured it was too late to apply to BU. No point spending money now on more med schools. Just have to hope for the best :xf:

I got rejected from UW, and that was my top choice. Residency screwed me over big time (apparently I'm not Alaskan anymore and that's what ended it for me).

I agree with other posters here. We would need to know more info to give you the best advice. However, from what I've seen on this website, adding BU to help you out is probably not the best idea...I've seen just tons of rejections (and quick ones) from them :/ It's certainly not too late for some other schools...you've just got to do your research

OP: I was in your position last year... the ONLY invites I got were from 2 State schools and I didn't even get those until late November/early December. I didn't end up getting in to either one either 🙁

Don't completely freak out yet... you still have a chance to get in somewhere this year. But definitely start figuring out plan B... keep volunteering and adding as much clinical experience as possible throughout the rest of this year and beginning of next year. That way, if you don't get in you'll be able to say you've greatly improved your application since last cycle.

Also be prepared to APPLY EARLY next year. Get your AMCAS off the day it opens. Yes, that means making revisions on your PS and activities NOW.. do NOT wait until May/June!!! I can not stress enough how important it is to do this! I made this mistake of holding off until March/April to start gearing up for this cycle b/c I was holding off until I heard from both those schools before worrying about re-applying. The fact of the matter is, getting in to med school is REALLY hard and you can't count on anything... be prepared to go thru this hell-ish procress of applying 2 and maybe even 3 times.... you have no idea how common that is!

GOod luck to you and hopefully you won't need this advice. But it's better to be safe then sorry... so start planning now!

Well, the date for submitting the primary to Boston Univ has passed. Unless you already submitted the primary and are just holding onto the secondary, it's too late. The AMCAS primary deadline for most (but not all) MD schools has already passed. You can go back in to AMCAS where you add schools and see what is left to apply to if you want.

I am in the same boat, complete at most of my schools in September and have heard nothing but rejections. I am still hopeful that I might get an interview or two in the coming months. :xf: Interview season runs through February-April, depending on the school.

futureNCMed has some good advice. Start working on Plan B while you are waiting around. I am going to start working soon on getting an LOR from a DO so I can apply to DO schools next cycle.

Best of luck!:luck:

The medical school admissions process is a load of bull, what else can you really say?

Boston U is one of the worst schools to apply to. Their admissions committee is filled with an exceptionally high number of *****s and half-wits. (No, I never got rejected or even applied to Boston U).
