Although I am a prepod, I feel the need to say this to anyone considering Podiatry a career, or those who have doubts about a Podiatrists success. All in all, I shadowed three doctors (the third one was for just a few hours though). But guess what, the other two doctors were averaging 40-46 patients a day. One was a younger doc -- mid thirties, the other was an older doc --- late fifties to early sixties.
Like the doctors told me -- failure, success and excellence in any chosen field is mostly dependent upon what the practitioner of that field, makes of that field.
Therefore, the no patients or patient shortage in Podiatry is a MYTH. Of course success and excellence come with a price. I look forward to commencing Pod school.

Um, where did this come from? I don't think we ever discussed lack of patients on these forums.

JEWmongous this post is based on a previous thread that discussed debt and risk factors in Podiatry. Granted these issues must be considered before making the decision to become a Podiatrist, but I am of the opinion that indirectly dissuading people to join a field, because of debt or not being guaranteed patients in the future is not the way to go. Life in general involves risk. No matter what route you take in life, business, medicine, education, law, plumber, salesman it is way harder to succeed than to fail.

some people just have argue a point, even if no one made the original point. arguers by nature i guess.
in the spirit of this post,
i would like to take this time to dispel the "no DUCKs in podiatry" myth
i once saw a podiatrist working on a duck foot. (splinting it up)
im sure some one at one time claimed podiatrist dont do work on duck feet.

there, i consider this myth .....BUSTED!👍
