My state, North Dakota, has no dental school. Supposedly there are some seats under contract at a couple of schools, but I'm not sure how many. It feels like my chances are low....2 interviews, but no offers, yet anyway. Average stats (3.2 GPA and 19 DAT), older than average working student with 3.8 postbacc. 23 PAT, but nobody cares about that.

Anybody else out there from Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, or other states with no dental school? How are things working out for you this application cycle?

I am an international student so I have no state school as well. So far it's been good for me I guess. Make sure you apply to private ones for better chances! 🙂

Things went ok for me with some sub-par DAT scores. I'm an Alaska resident (no state school).

I had a 3.73 and an AA of 18. I got offers from UB, OHSU, and ASDOH and I sent my acceptance in to Oregon shortly after new years.

Best of luck to you!

AZ resident. 2 schools but neither are public so doesn't really help much. stats are listed below. 3 interviews, UB (couple weeks), MWU, and IU. No acceptances from interviewed schools yet.

Montana... although I guess I screwed my residency by going to school out of state... so technically no state residency. Indiana is my only option so far. Did you interview at Minnesota?

IL has UIC and SIU. 2 out of state interviews.

I'm from arkansas. we have no in state school, but 6 or so schools reserve a total of 30 spots for us.

So far 4 interviews, one acceptance.

Im from California, and even though we have 2 state schools they are nearly impossible to get into unless you are they type of person that gets accepted on December 1st. To respond Trent, If i were you I would have sent applications everywhere..... actually my stats are somewhat similar and by applying to 20 schools this year I increase my odds and got into 2 schools. So my advice..... apply early and apply to more schools

Arkansas here too....I'll be applying this summer for the next cycle or during the year for the 09 cycle...can't decide which would be best for my current situation....

I applied to 18 schools, but AADSAS was not complete until Oct. 1 due to a late LOR. I have 3 rejections (Case, Iowa, Nebraska). I had interviews this fall at 2 schools - Creighton and Minnesota - haven't heard anything from them. No status updates for any other schools since November. The waiting is driving me crazy!

I'm from Utah and I will be attending Pitt next fall. I was also accepted to Nova, Indiana, and Temple. I had applied to 15 total schools and had 5 interviews, and all my acceptances were December 1st. I got waitlisted at Case Dec. 1st as well. Things worked out well for me, but I hate that Utah doesn't have a dental school!

I'm from New Mexico and I applied to most the WICHE schools and a few others. I interviewed at 8 schools and was accepted to 4 - I was actually surprised that I wasn't accepted (yet) to some of the schools that favor New Mexico residents. I am really just baffled by the whole process - nothing is predictable or guaranteed.
