It's been about a month since I submitted all of my secondaries. I submitted a total of 7, a couple of them I know are waiting on my LOR from a DO, but the others I don't know about. Should I be worried? Is this normal?

Email them to make sure your app is processed and/or check as see if you have an interview at that school

I had one school that actually did not contact me for an interview. I had to contact them to find out (however this was two months after verification). You can PM me to find out which school (I'm trying to preserve my anonymity) and you can search the threads to see which schools have also not contacted applicants in the past.

Patience is a virtue!

But patience is hard!!! 😉

I was in the same boat as you last two weeks ago Dylan, I decided to apply to 5 more schools. My way of thinking is that while it is expensive to apply to more schools its less expensive then having to apply to schools again next year.

What are your stats??
3.55cGPA, 3.4 sGPA, 25MCAT (8,7,10), have held 10+ exec positions, some research, lots of volunteer hours, 60+ shadowing hours.

That's what I'm thinking too. I know I'll have two for sure interviews for schools in my state, but I want to explore options OOS. I've got very strong ties to the south.

MCAT is too low for a number of schools, like CCOM, AZCOM, and the Touros, but there are plenty of others that should give you some love. Give it time, your turn will come.

What schools do you think? I'd really love to go to LECOM-B, PCOM-Ga, or one of the Edward via schools. I don't know where else to apply to. I've looked at ACOM but don't know a whole lot about it or whether it's a good school. I'd rather not go to WCU-COM, nothing against the school I just don't like Mississippi.

@Goro , I've been completed everywhere for about 1-2 weeks. Still no response. Is this normal?

you should have good chances for VCOM. if you are from the southeast you should have a decent chance at PCOM-GA. Other schools you could consider: LMU, WVSOM, Touro-NV, KCUMB, DMU, SOMA, KYCOM, Marian, Campbell.

Kind of off topic but how late is "too late" to be adding schools? I know some people apply in Jan and still get in and earlier is always better but there has to be a cut off where one should try and apply before X date. I know we are pretty much at that point if not past it for MDs and I was just wondering when the DO equivalent is.

I agree with the schools suggested. Some schools let you know right away and others make you wait. It also doesn't hurt to call. I call pretty frequently and all the admissions personnel seem happy to help.

It all depends. If you have a 3.0/24 then yeah it is probably pretty late. If you have a 3.6/35, no it isn't too late.
It also depends on which school you are applying to. Newer schools tend to be more lenient. @Abraxas65

Like Goro said "patience". I too have a 25 mcat, my gpa is slightly higher. I was complete early August now I have 6 interviews lined up after waiting for 6 weeks. Anywhere from AT Still and KCUMB to new schools like Marian. Keep your head up, hopefully you'll get some interviews.

I am in that odd situation of having a 3.0 (with two full years of grad classes at 3.8) and a 33 MCAT. Barely squeaking by most schools GPA cutoff, but having an MCAT that is far higher than most of their averages.

Have you applied to Campbell? It is a new school, but during my interview I got really good vibes there. @Dylan4081
I don't know very much about Campbell, besides that it's fairly new. To be honest I'm not even 100% sure where it is😳

Yup. keep in mind that at my school alone, which has an Admissions staff of maybe five people, we have to wade through > 5000 apps!

All 3 VCOMs, TUNCOM, PCOM-GA, Pikesville, LMU-DeBusk, MUCOM, PacNW, and both LECOMs.

You have 5 people! Full time?
I have 2 (and me) and >8K aps.
You guys need some software (not that I want to displace workers...).

Well, those five people also take care of other colleges within our University. Our COM would so lucky to have five just for ourselves!

Call PCOM-GA to check up on the status of your application. I did that and ended up getting offered an interview over the phone. It apparently worked for another student in my class as well. YMMV

Pick up the phone... cause I "called it."

Good to know from another SDNer 👍

Side note: Happened to me at different school.
