Non clinical volunteering

Does volunteering in a nursing home count as nonclinical or clinical hours? I currently have volunteered 30 hours in a food pantry. Would it be better for me to continue volunteering in the food pantry or does it not matter if I switch to the nursing home, as long as I volunteer at least 150 hours?

What are you doing? Are the people "residents" or "patients"? Frankly, nursing homes can be a gray zone between "patient care" and "residence". If you are helping people with craft projects or playing the piano, it could be labeled a non-clinical volunteer opportunity.

On the other hand, if you are employed in a nursing home and providing patient care technician services (bathing, dressing, toileting) then you could certainly count that as clinical.

If you like helping the elderly and you like the opportunity to serve people who live in a nursing home, then do that volunteer activity for as long as you can (or until the need is no longer there).

Thank you for your response! The nursing home is a residence, where I would be playing board games, doing crafts and reading to the residents. I did this in high school and really enjoyed it. If it will count as nonclinical hours, then I would so much rather do this than the food pantry.
