Hi! I was wondering if anyone knew of where I could find a list of NP programs/Master's of Nursing programs that allow direct graduate entry for non-nursing majors? I am looking all over the country. I was a Bio major and now want my MSN to get my NP certification.

Also, if you find a list that includes whether or not certification (STNA, RN, etc.) is required that would be extremely helpful as well! I have been visiting individual programs' websites, but not all information is supplied.

Thank you all!

Not all of these programs lead to NP licensure, some are CNL program and stop at the RN level. You'll have to look at each one individually, OP.

The the OP - I'm confused by your question about whether or not RN certification is necessary. In order to become an NP you must be an RN first. The accelerated NP programs have people obtain their RN in the first 12-18 months of the program and then continue on for the NP.

There is really no way around RN education if you want to be an NP. I would also add that I don't think you would want to be an NP if you don't receive basic nursing training. It really provides a strong foundation for NP experience and education.

Not to mention "RN" is not a certificate, it is a license one obtains after completing the required curriculum and passing NCLEX-RN. STNA is a certification for nursing assistants.

There are many people who think they can do an end run around basic nursing education to become an NP. There are some who think they don't need any experience as a nurse before becoming an NP. That's what makes NP education a laughing stock among many of our colleagues.

Is that your current picture? No disrespect, but you don't look old enough to shave, let alone be responsible for someone's medical care. 😉
